Your Changer Ideas For 2009's Super Sentai

The cell phones aren't bad. They're a very logical choice since it can be kept on the person without being noticable. People would notice a change brace, or a magical dino belt. Last I checked, superheroes had SECRET identities

haha you don't know how many times i've heard that, not looking ordinary

is the beauty of it. plus rem. these aren't ordinary superheroes. There Sentai

heroes. plus as long as it looks tech-ish it won't look to unusual (SP License).

Cell Phones=NO. period.

Not very many sentai even bother hiding their secret identities, so that doesn't matter. Only a few like Megaranger and Magiranger did. Speaking of which, dressing like this...

...is A LOT weirder and more noticeable than a watch-like doodad strapped on your arm.

To be fair, the secret identity thing is just not as aggressively enforced in the same manner in toku hero stories as it has been in American superheroes. Afterall, everybody in Shocker knows who Hongo Takashi is.

I think in Japanese superhero stories they realize a very legitimate fact which is that the average person living in the world of the story simply does not know what the audience knows or would recognize what they do. They might see something like a henshin-brace and think it's strange but not neccesarily make that immediate connection between this dudes weird looking wristband and those color coded heroes with their big robot who fight the monsters.

That's not to say they don't have them but it's just not in that very strict sense we're used to thinking of from the Clark Kent or Peter Parker model. (I know in comics they've screwed around with that to a point where it seem like everybody knows or the writers reveal their identities for some cheap sales stunt but I'm speaking strictly in terms of the characters as they were intended.)

Also, toku villans typically don't seem to go for doing the "I know his identity so I'll try kill everyone he knows or is close to!" thing. At least not until it's truly dramatic to do so. Part of this is I guess a genre conceit and part of it is that you can use a heroes loved ones as tools or hostages but the real victory is going to be in actually defeating the hero in battle, thus showing the world how evil and badass you are. So I guess in some warped fashion there is still some vauge sense of honorable fighting there even though the villans are evil.

I think this may go back to some samurai traditions I remember reading about. Something along the lines of if you were to attack an enemy before he was ready for you, you were considered something even lower than a coward. You were like the ultimate wuss. I think you could even get killed by your own crew for doing something like that. Because if you were truly so damn awesome then you would have the skills to take out your enemy when he was able to fight back.

We don't need changers, we need Aura Fire!
In a jam? Can't reach your changer, no need for that. Just burn your aura and change, like that.
That way you can't be stopped unless you don't want to fight, because your aura won't burn.

That's a good idea. Wonder how feasible it would be for an actual show, but that's how I'd make it if I was in a Sentai. In the one I am making, it's not that different. They have changers, but easy to use and hard to lose.

oh ,THAT ,it want out the window in the '90:laugh:
now ranger even when NOT FIGHTING their suit screams out that theyre superheroes.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Sentai where their side arms are their changers. I know some of you may claim that Gekiranger did this, but their side arms were technically the Geki Tonfa and the Geki-bo.

I think the next changer should be a gun or a mini-sword.

^ as long as it has a good story as to why/how they got'em

"hey what's that bulging in your pocket?"

"oh...umm...it's a sword"

":O_O: :eyebrow: "

Then it's like Garo where Kouga changes to Garo with his sword which was his weapon. If Wing Trigger was a gun and Go-On Wings changes with it then it will be great. I realized in the past, the heroes would change where there is no people around but now, they dun care whether there are people or not and simply just transform
