Yakuza 3 finally given a US release date

Sega officially confirms what was known for about 6 months

Hinted at about half a year ago, and then again about 4 months ago, Sega officially confirms that localization is under way with a march 2010 ETA. I played through the original Japanese release and for the most part followed it, but it will definitely be nice to have a chance to sit and and really get into it without having to consult with a translator every hour. Definitely gonna take the last few weeks of February to replay 1 and 2 in preparation.

Might have to pre order this, I'm hoping they'll bring Kenzan over.

With the less than stellar sales of part 2, it was hard enough for them to justify bring over part 3, Kenzan would be nice, but it's not anything I'd hold my breath for. I'll be happy enough just getting Ryu ga Gotoku 4 stateside. Spin-off stories in a different era are nice... but if I had to choose I'd rather they focus on the main story... If they did release Kenzan, I doubt they'd keep it under the Yakuza title here, since it's nothing at all like the other games. They may as well just call it Like a Dragon.

A little late for a pre-order now, it's over 20 months old. Kenzan! is solid, but I felt it needed a lot more Japanese knowledge, both linguistically and culturally, to enjoy than 3 did.

Is Kenzan playable without being able to understand Japanese?

I'd say it's playable, in the sense that you can figure our how to do things, and use a walk-through to let you know what to do next, but it's less enjoyable, and harder to follow the story.

yeah, it was initially leaked months ago in one of Sega's internal memos, but they finally gave an official confirmation of it. Glad to see it coming.

Now if only they could hurry up with the PS3 dreamcast downloadable titles.
