Wow, So DOA is Really Over?

Kivat

Some kind of Beast mode
wtf man, I love Dead or Alive so much it's not even funny. DOA is one of the best fighting games ever.

It's not like I'm just finding this out now, it's that I just remembered it, and wanted talk about it, and get confirmation on if it's really over with.

This is an outrage.

Wait...that was the reason?

I heard he got jipped. That he created a game, but he wasn't paid in full.

This is the reported reason he left. The court found him innocent and Tecmo's inquiry determined it was consensual. And then Tecmo demoted him for causing ****, and Itagaki turned around and sued them for missing bonuses related to previous work. Tecmo then turned around and fired him. And that was it.

Note, Itagaki took a good part of Team Ninja with him to a new start-up. What's left is I believe the former PS3 port team with Yosuke Hayashi (producer of the first NG Sigma) is the head now.

Itagaki was the big Xbox 360 fan, and with his departure you'll probably see Team Ninja remain more PS3 centric as that seems to be Hayashi's baby (Hayashi and Itagaki apparently clashed over this, and Itagaki talked **** about the PS3 rev all the time)

The out-spoken developer also revealed his displeasure over 2007's PlayStation 3 revamp of the original instalment, Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Discussing the title, a visually polished port of the Xbox original, Itagaki-san said, "It was a weird chimera of a game, with some things here and some things there. From a game design standpoint, I don't think it was done well at all. This [Ninja Gaiden II] is the definitive version of Ninja Gaiden...I look at NG2 and I think it's the culmination of everything I've done, but it's also a chance for me to change how I think about game design."

DOA games will still be around though, although I didn't take into account that they could move over to the PS3.

There's an interview with the new head at Kikizo that they plan on continuing Ninja Gaiden and DOA without him. So that's good, but Itagaki, despite being a dickwad, had a vision for his games that I totally dug. So as a hardcore DOA fan, I might not be pleased should they roll out with DOA 5.

That's good that's good. :buttrock::buttrock::buttrock: Yes!

But hey, I feel you about his vision. Hopefully some of them were close enough to him, to know how his vision would be, or at least take that into consideration.

I think Team Ninja should move on and just continuing making newer Ninja Gaiden at DOA games without Itagaki-san at helm at the group..
