Watched it today.
I really enjoyed it. The action was good, the animation was good. The voice actors all did pretty well (even Fillion), although I couldn't help but wish I was hearing Lucy Lawless as Hippolyta. Feels like a solid and loyal adaptation of the comics, not taking everything word for word but doing well to capture a rendition of the title character's mythos and origin story.
[hide]The first 10-15 minutes were really strong; a big battle, with some great dialogue. Subsequently, it dipped a little, but stayed pretty exciting and on the mark, only deviating occasionally with some awkward lines and questionable developments. I didn't really like how active a role Steve seemed to take- there were some strong feminist messages as ever, but his presence in some scenes simply seemed to weaken Diana. The main confrontation was pretty cool, but could've used a little more strong action and dialogue.
I was impressed that Simone and Jelenic tried to keep a balance between the contemporary 'man's world' and interesting Greek/ Amazon mystic world. It'd be great if this gave the comic a little boost, in sales and hopefully in freedom to let Simone explore that more in the comic.[/hide]
