Why wasn't Ryuki as popular as Madoka got?

One of the main things that did not work in Ryuki's favor was the fact that the character designs were drastically different and none of them were bugs. It's the same problem Zyuranger had, change enough things in a formula that so many people have come to know and love and you're bound to get backlash

Perhaps because Ryuki was a terrible, poorly-written, even-more-poorly-acted floating piece of excrement? That's the reason I'm going with.

I'm laughing at the idea that you're actually trying to compare Ryuki to Kiva, Decade, and Wizard. Ryuki was....an odd duck, that's the best way I can put it. It did drag it's feet in some places, but when episode 14 came, they knew what they were doing

Ryuki was ok as far as gear, fights and that stuff was concerned.. But story it was awful. And for a series that managed to have 3 separate endings, all three sucked.

Yeah, I'll admit, the one for the tv series just felt the writers had written themselves into a complete corner

Ryuki's characters weren't as interesting nor was the show as well written as Madoka.

I'd really like to sit here and argue with you about this considering how low-brow and one dimensional magical girl shows are. That doesn't mean that I consider Toku a "mature franchise for mature people such as myself" either

From what I hear, she was incredibly popular, not just with the older fans for her lesbian relationship with Mana, but the kids seem to have been drawn to her in a similar way they were with Ankh in OOO. She's a lovable, selfish brat, who opens up and develops a very close bond with the main character in a really endearing way. I guess they didn't foresee her popularity, but writing her out of the show so soon seems to have massively backfired, especially since I think a lot of people really expected her to become Ace.

I think the fact that Ultraman Cure Ace didn´t turned out to be Regina did turned off a lot of people, even i wasn´t entirely happy with having Ace being a completely new character.

I am actually surprised at the fact that Dokidoki´s ratings have gone down ever since Ace was introduced, it could be the summer fatigue these shows go throught during their 20-30, but if i am to be honest the show has actually improved a lot during the last 10 or so episodes, mostly because now the show doesn´t have 3 or 4 "plots" running around at all times, so it can finally breath and focus on the characters.

This, i think, is the more poignant thing you can say about ryuki; even if you don´t like the show for whatever reason or the ending(s) was a bit of a mess (i enjoyed it, mind you), the show had a clear perspective of what it wanted to do, so even if it was not always succesful, it is superior to other riders show that simply didn´t knew what they were doing half of the time.
