Why does CN even bother playing Hack?

SD Gundam's more like the...SD Kamen Rider of Gundam, only series length. It's really worth watching the second seaon if you can find it, it also has one of the funniest ending sequences in a while.

That's new to me. So basically... SD Gundam Force is the Hibiki of Gundam? Maybe I'll give the show a second chance if I can find the second season

SD Gundam is not worth even a "first" watch. Why would you bother with watching that gay show? And Im not being cute, the show was literally gay. It solicited a little boy wanting to have sex with this mini-gundam. I'd tell you to watch an episode and see for yourself but that would be like asking you to shove a rusted fork in your eye.

A little late entering this conversation, but that's what happens when one is a "daywalker"...

The whole Seed thing is a drag, as is .hack, and IGPX, and Cyborg 009, and every other good show that ever got the shaft off of Toonami. I think it just boils down to promotion and fan interest. We have to face it, giant robots are no longer the main spokespersons for anime (nor are sailor-suited heroines for that matter), and there's just no major interest in them. Add to the fact that those of us who do watch the shows are often disgusted by either the editing or the dub, and the ratings just tank. Just our lot in life, I suppose....

Considering the current question of .hack, I love the franchise to death, but have to admit the episodes move a littttle slow sometimes. That has to have hurt the ratings for SIGN, and now hexed Roots. It can also be dicey to follow if you haven't even read the back of the case to the video game ^_^;

Well... right. Shonen anime is back in style thanks to Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, yada yada yada. And as for the sailor suited heroines...

Toei told whoever did the American productions point blank "We shall no longer license new Sailor Moon productions for you!" So yeah, that pretty much killed off Sailor Moon's American franchise. With Giant Robots, maybe they have gotten a little old. They did dominate 70s anime. That's why we've had franchises like Gundam and Super Robot Wars try reinventing themselves to stay at the forefront. But whereas SRW is doing an ok job for itself, Gundam was sort of shot in the foot with SEED, although Bandai's breakneck promotion of it is makin them a ton of yen right now.

Yeah, it'll always make the moolah in Japan, but it seems to have just faded out here. Of course, things do cycle, so maybe in another ten years we'll see a resurgence of giant robot anime *crosses fingers* Though, for it to be successful, it does have to retain a certain level of quality, which Seed Destiny apparently seemed to lack. Shows like Eureka 7, and the slightly older RahXephon, give hope for the future of the genre, but only time will tell I think....

I'm hoping Super Robot Wars leads the Giant Robot resurgence. Although we'd only be getting the Original Generations series, since it'd be hell to get permission from so many different companies to have the respective mechs in the game, more than half of which America's never seen before

Yeah, the cross-licensing complications involved in Super Robot Wars has always hurt its chances in the US (frankly we're pretty lucky we got Tech Romancer) ^_^ Whichever mecha show gets the general populous interested again, I just hope it's a good one. Sad to admit, but there are some pretty half-hearted titles out there

I never understood .hack. It's just too boring for me and nothing seems to happen. I'm surprised that it's variants are on as well.

What happened to YYH was a crime.

As for the Gundams...
Wing wasn't my favorite, but it was good. I understand why people love it to death. G Gundam was more my style and I think the ratings showed it was a success. But after that they followed it up with that kiddy SD garbage and killed all it's credibility. Also, Gundam Seed was a good show, but it starts out kinda slow. And since Toonami had been regulated to Saturday only, it was too much for a vast majority of people to keep themselves interested in it. Shame too, as the end was pretty good.

The state of Toonami today is bad. Has been for a while. It started with that Duel Masters crap that ushered in the era of the "super silly parody shows" that I can't stand like Bobobo. A show about tennis has no appeal to me whatsoever, and having Pokemon on the block is just the death kneel for the block. That last good show on was JLU and they tried to get rid of that quick for whatever reason. Cyborg 009 was unique and should have finished it's run as well.
