Michael Bay only made one good movie without any problems in his life. And it ain't Transformers.

Give Robotech to Bay you're going to get maximum explosions minimum character quality. Robotech isn't about the actual robots like Transformers, its more about characterization which Michael Bay is piss poor at doing.

Tobey Maguire is still producing the Robotech movie, no director attached yet.

After what I saw them do with Speed Racer... the Warchowsky Bros.

Shusuke Kaneko, John Woo, or Yoshiyuki Tomino. IMHO, they should NOT let a Western filmmaker direct because the last time somebody let an American direct a remake [Emmerich and Devlin's Deanzilla GINO] it totally sucked.

Umm big no. Race has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a director. Always . John Woo direct Robotech? Ha.

The last time I saw an American remake of an asian film was The Departed, and that turned out pretty well.

Anyway last time I checked this project is an adaptation of a show which was an American adaptation of 3 Japanese shows.

steven spielberg without george lucas...maybe he can make ET kick ass instead of phoning home...lol

jj Abrams would kick ass at this...

joss whedon might be able to do it too...maybe captain mal can come back as a different person and kick ass in outerspace again with his legalize whore...

john woo directing Macross would be interesting seeing a bunch of robots in a standoff with dual rifles blasting eachother to bits...fucking awesome....
