Who knows how to alter colors on computer images?

It shouldn't come as a shock, but I'm a big fan of Survivor. In my nuttiness, I'm also a big fan of the logos. Unfortunately, over the last year or so, images of the logos have had a strange problem: The black has been tinted a little bit. I've tried fixing it with Paint, but it's time consuming and, more importantly, too difficult for me at times.

Does anyone know how to make the black parts actually BLACK without affecting the rest of the image?
