There are definitely some shows that take a bit to find their footing but end up being really rewarding. One of the classic examples is Parks and Recreation. The first season is pretty uneven and doesn't fully capture the charm of the characters or the town of Pawnee. But by the second season, it really finds its voice and offers some of the best comedy and character development on TV.
Another standout is The Office (U.S.). The first season sticks closely to the UK version's format, which didn't resonate with many viewers. Starting in the second season, though, the show really defines its own style, deepening character arcs and delivering some all-time great moments.
Lastly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is worth mentioning. While the first season is funny, it feels a bit more like a standard workplace comedy. As it progresses, the humor becomes sharper and the character dynamics develop into something really special, allowing for more heartfelt moments mixed with the comedy.
If you're open to longer binge-watching, these shows definitely start slow but turn into favorites over time!
