I remember hearing it was either Volume 1 compilation of eps 1-4 or a musical DVD.

It's the "movie" that is epsiodes one and two re-edited together with new music.

What changes are made to the music?.

Um, the only piece that is obvious off the top of my head would be the music in the battle from episode 2. They changed it to the more faced paced battle music they started using later in the series.
