I enjoy this series. Right here in the first episode we have some really tight writing, and great scenes. The flower bit was a tad too much, but I just love that even in the post-apocalyptic world, people haven't lost their sense of humor. Downside: Summer is only seen doing something awesome, but gets no introduction like the others.
Well, I consider getting to do something awesome but no introduction to be a better trade-off than an introduction but no awesomeness. Also, Dillon tore off the top half of a mook; that definitely has implications for what sort of person Dillon is.
Do you know how awesome it is that the script calls for things people would actually say? How refreshing it is that every third line isn't some horrible pun? This is some tight writing, and I love it!
I do find this to be a natural character progression. He still wants out, and gives it a half-hearted try, before realizing he has something bigger to be a part of.
Ok, the whole hand thing was just silly for silly's sake. But the genre savvy villains and the continuity from the prior episode regarding the shield was well done.
