What was the point of Zordon dying?

The supposed finale of In Space , when you view it in the context of the seasons after make it mean nothing as apparently Rita and Zedd's child was evil though the former was by now a Mystic Mother [for some reason altohugh she has no power left if not being connected to an empire and not a magic council].

In turn, several hordes of villainy coming along after the wiping of all evil supposedly in the galactic cluster or universe, in turn needing their own rangers to fight.... Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue devalue his death to nothing because the former is an evil that is old in some respects while the latter are demons on Earth.

If we consider the timeline of many seasons, the seasons beyond In Space should have never happened within that universe unless the beam of light:
-only killed the villains at the moment, which would have wiped the Gedoushou , the demons in LSR, orcs , the Jakanja and maybe Mesagog. So that's those ones. Ransik may have still existed , but could be far different if the villains that were in SPD were killed as well , thus eliminating or changing Time Force.

Mystic Force's villains, by default, should have been destroyed by the wave as well and similar goes for Dai Shi and the OO ones. RPM could be in an alternate universe or the future between SPD and TF, but Venjix could still exist because it was manmade.

So where does Zordon's death fit if his death was largely in vain?

You're right. Kind of pointless. If his death really did wipe out all of the evil in the universe, then there shouldn't have been any more need for Power Rangers anymore. Franchise cancelled!

But really, Power Rangers' timeline and continuity is all over the place. Trying to make sense of everything is just like fighting a losing battle. If Zordon's death really did wipe out all evil, which is kind of a contradiction against nature itself, it would be next to impossible to keep making adaptions in a way that makes sense. So really, it's a matter of "Do you want to see more seasons of Power Rangers or not?".

One of the biggest problems that will haunt Power Rangers til its dying days was trying to force various Super Sentai into one united continuity that was never there in the first place. Many of the staff involved have wanted to branch out and do different things, turning Power Rangers into something unique, but you can only do so much when you're limited to the Japanese footage and what you have to work with. Everything from MMPR Season 2 to Alien Rangers had to be an editing nightmare.

The issue with the footage is that they could have taken a root familiar in Samurai... for the Thunderzords, make the Dairanger suits kinda like the Mega Ranger costumes and as an upgrade, using footage sparingly and cut some footage of the controversial fighting where it was ,transitioning and then phasing the Zyu suits out entirely by the advent of the White Ranger.

By Season 3, it should focus on the Alien Rangers, who come to earth to aid the Thunder Power Rangers, who for losing their powers are stuck at high school while Kakuranger footage is used. Note that a sixth Gold/White Kakuranger suit be made for Tommy and the powers are passed to the humans after a sacrifice [being trained under their tutelage], passing the Ninja powers to the rangers, who then wear those suits for the remainder of the season. Think of a reverse Season 3 with the Gold Ranger arc mixed in, [the Gold/Silver Ninja Ranger would be from their world, preferably like Ninjor's ranger equivalent.]

The problem was that Saban should have just adapted the Zyu2 footage straight, and then used the Dairanger footage for later rather than VR Trooper-it ; they might as well done their own show with the original footage done as it was.

I don't doubt there would still be evil, but with this in mind, wouldn't newer writers want to make the villains make sense to this concept by having newer villains with no previous histories trying to fill the void in the chaos of peace? Especially if Rita's empire was that immense, are these new villains trying to usurp that? I can see that as a reason , making the newer villains rise from the ashes to make newer orders, but thats never explicitly explained in such a manner.

There needs to be a book created to cover this....and then bring the pre-zyu under the same belt , but under their sentai names.

A Power Rangers bible to follow for the first season and any future seasons would have been nice, but again, if the show is only making adaptions, it can get really hard to stick to that since it's hard to know in advance what Toei is going to do. Power Rangers, for a while, was making their seasons pretty close to after their Japanese counterparts had finished. It would have been better to go back further than ZyuRanger, that way you have a few seasons to watch in advance and plan out how to incorporate them into Power Rangers.

And yes, I am sure tons of people have thought about how the early days of Power Rangers could have been done better. But the damage is done, and no matter how you address it, the reason for Zordon's sacrifice will always stick out like a sore thumb.

After a while, it's easier to just stop questioning everything and enjoy the ride. When they made Thrax, I honestly doubt they were considering continuity, they just wanted to make a throw back to the MMPR days. When they made Rita into Mystic Mother, I doubt they were thinking of a way to explain how it happened, let alone even bother to find any of the original actors who played Rita. They just saw footage of Machiko Soga and knew this would be a great chance to give a nod the MMPR fans. When they made SPD, I don't think they cared about how the In Space and Time Force rangers were written in. They just said "Hey! Space and rangers in the future... We've seen these before, haven't we? We have to reference this!"

How about no?

Power Rangers isnt Sentai.

Your fantasy booking caters to a niche group of people and frankly overcomplicates what is and always will be a basic children's show. Think about the age group PR is aimed at, lord knows the PROFESSIONALS do basement dweller

You are currently thinking harder than any Saban writer ever has or will.

Stop it...

The weird thing is thinking about if Power Rangers had gone according to plan. According to the Millenium Message from Turbo, Power Rangers was planning to end sometime around 2000, which would've made Lightspeed Rescue the final season. Can you imagine if the in Space stuff was mostly part of the plot of Lightspeed & we also had Trakeena & the demons as part of the Alliance of Evil?

Then, the exact following season would've been Time Force, which would have given vindication to do a reboot, had the series remained popular until then.

So where does Zordon's death fit if his death was largely in vain?

Here's where I'm going to try and defend the death of Zordon with my crazy fan logic.

Zordon's death releases the good energy into space to rid the universe of the current evil (current being the key word). As we see this results in the death of artificial life like Goldar, Elgar, and the minions while the living beings are transformed into good natured humans (and then Rita and Zed go slasa dancing). However even Zordon is finite and his good can only go so far so it becomes more focused on the villains from the past 6 seasons because ATM they are all the strongest evil there is.

Now Why weren't the monsters from LSR, JF, and others not turned to good or destroyed? That's because they were sealed, their evil was already suppressed from a different source and therefore not visibly applicable to the goodness of Zordon. Sounds like a stretch but I have further proof of this theory summed up in 2 words Psycho Rangers. The Psychos were sealed and weren't affected by Zordon's good and then released unaffected by the good energy thus providing some grounds for that theory.

But what about the villains from Lost Galaxy? Well they're of a lesser Evil. They're basically all that remains of evil in the universe and despite being a warlord and killing Magna Defender's son we don't really have much of a history on the guy. So I believe with Scorpious' age of over 3,000 years that his evil isn't as strong as many of the previous enemies. All we've really seen Scorpious do so far is turn a planet to stone and constantly attack a space station. Which may explain why he needs all of these artifacts of power he's searching for to restore and enhance his evil power to something more impressive.

Now Rita and Zed's son may take another stretch of imagination but follow along if you can. So between Zeo and In Space we know Rita and Zed must have given him birth but we don't know how they breed so I'm gonna say for simplicity it's magic. So maybe he was already born as an adult which would give him about 2-3 years where he could fight the Sentinal Knight and become sealed thus avoiding the Zordon energy that made mommy and Daddy good.

That's also why the villain's aren't any older as most were sealed away or from the future where evil had time to build and become something great like in SPD with Omni.

Or it's just a kid's show with some bad writing take your pick. I mean What happened to Bulk and Skull between Zeo and Turbo? How did they become cops again?
