What To Bring to/Expect at College

So I will be a new Freshman very soon. I thought some of you guys might have some good advice.

I know some things I thought to buy already were:

-Shower Massage on a cord (I hate those stay in one place heads, i find it hard to wash with)
-Velcro wall hangers.
-Cheap Cutlery and plastic glasses
-Bathrobe
-TV Cable splitter (so roomate and you can both have use of the line in)

Some other things pending/suggested to me already were:
Lamps
Some kinda storage box (lockable?)
Dry erase board
Light bulbs
corded telephone?

I have a new DVD/VCR, 10 blank VHS tapes (YAY CABLE AGAIN) and I'm pretty sure I will have a TV.

A Laptop and a printer and a Fridge.

So my question is, what else should I know?

Are you going to live in the dorms? You might need to buy a microwave and toaster as well. I remember one of my suitemates bring his George Forman grill as well.

We can't bring microwaves.

There's a kitchen with the basic junk, supposebly.

You're gonna need a little personal friend, a gold fish or frog works best. Go to Petco. Buy a nice sized frog and a durable tank. Bring the frog with you. When ever you feel lonely and your room mate doesn't feel like talking, you'll have your frog or gold fish friend to talk to, or play with. :thumbs:

Classes: Nothing before 11
Beer: It's your best friend, drink alot of it
Girls: Well, you're a freshman, so that's pretty much out of the question
Do you a have car? If not, find someone who does and become best friends with them on the first day.

Practical:
- Slippers for the shower unless you want fungus and more growing on your feet.
- Coins for laundry
- hangers
- towels (lots of them) in case you don't get to do laundry
- go to orientation stuff - they make life MUCH easier.
- sheets and bedstuff (preferably more than one full set)
- learn your emergency number - 911 should work almost anywhere, but some campuses have their own direct line.

Fun:
- meet the people on your floor
- the rest of the thread's posters can tell you that probably better than I

Scholastic:
- Yeah, go to class. Really, that's what you pay for. And if you can't find someone who takes good notes.
- Bother to put in at least 70% of work and effort for your frosh year - you won't waste the rest of the three years working your ass off to make up for it.

I'm sure there is more...but generally remembering this will help. Play hard, study hard, and enjoy it. College is one of the best times in your life. :thumbs:

Wow, I never went through all this when I went to college. Maybe I just didn't stay at a dorm.

WOW, someone else who likes that movie!!! Also, depending on what campus you go to, beware of people who will try to change you. You will experience alot of new ideas and opinions that you havent dealt with before. It can be tough. Stick to your guns, and what you believe.
