what do you classify as an old school anime

I also think my age will not determine if it is a classic. Say, if I was a child when Dragon Ball aired, would that not make it a classic now? Would that mean that it is a classic to some and it isn't to others because they were children at different times? Does that mean that as much as one would like to believe that something is a classic, if he was born in the time of Ultraman or Kamen Rider, that he or she may never say it is a classic because it was too close to the person's age?

Fox-Chan, that's not nice. How old is Changeman?

See? All that confusion is why it should be up to the age of the series itself!

Speaking of which, Changeman will officially be twenty-five years old on February 2nd.

since when is 30 old

Since I decided to make fun of you for equating the age of the series with YOU being old.

It really should be left to the independent variable, which almost always (in some cases, yes, it isn't) is time. Someone's age is too dependent.

Twenty-five? :O_O:

so in your eyes
would J Decker be retro in your eyes that can never be true of me since i was 14 when they were shown so for me that would be nostalgic for me

No, man. You're saying that. That type of classification is all yours. Kurenai agreed with part of it, but it's yours. We're saying that if it brings back emotions or memories of past times, it is nostalgic to you. Nostalgia is to the person. Old school depends on how old it is in general more than how old it is compared to you.

In terms of the evolution of cinematography, animation techniques, voice actors, music, special effects, CGI, writing, arc planning, general audience perception, and just about everything that matters in terms of evaluating a series... yes. J-Decker, Changeman, Gundam 0079, Saint Seiya, and pretty much every series you grew up loving as a kid now qualifies under varying levels of "old." Or retro. Or nostalgic. Or whatever you want to call it.

Sudden realization: why the hell am I trying to argue a semantics question with bigone?

...You, have an affinity for exercises in futility?

But yeah...20 years or more. I don't care how old a person is, I'm sorry but stuff from the 80's is ooooold.

In other news, I like old stuff.
