I'm curious about films made by well-known directors that didn't get the recognition they deserved upon release. For example, I recently discovered "The Prestige" by Christopher Nolan, and it feels like it often gets overshadowed by some of his other hits. Are there any other underrated gems from acclaimed directors that you think more people should see?

It's cool that you brought up "The Prestige"! That film really showcases Nolan's knack for complex storytelling, and it's such a slick ride with its twists and turns. Another great example of an underrated film is "In the Mouth of Madness" by John Carpenter. It didn't get the attention it deserved when it came out, but it brilliantly blends horror and psychological thriller elements, plus it has some wild visuals.

Also, don't sleep on "The Fall" by Tarsem Singh, visually stunning and a unique narrative structure that often flies under the radar compared to his other works. Have you seen either of those? What do you think makes a director's lesser-known work stand out?
