"Otaku" doesn't mean nerd or just someone with a hobby. It's a derrogatory word for someone so obsessed with anything to the point of his hobby being unhealthy and destructive to his social life, which in Japan usually happens more to anime/game/internet nerds. But it can be applied to any hobby, I've heard of "train otaku" and "plane otaku" before (people obsessed with collecting train/plane models). It can easily be applied to a toku fan too if he's that kind of sad obsessed freak with zero life outside his imaginary toku world, who talks about nothing but toku and would rather play with his figures and mecha all day than go outside and talk to actual people.
Otaku carries a very negative connotation, it's not something anyone should be proudly calling themselves. Weeaboos like to slap the word onto themselves because they think it means they're ~special~ for liking animu, but try telling a Japanese person you're "proud to be an otaku" and see the face they'll make.

The term Otaku actually means someone who has an unhealthy obsession with anything in Japan, you can be a computer otaku or a pornography otaku but in American culture, Otaku is a self imposed word to the Anime fandom while Weeboo is a name given to them by the culture. the word weebo did start from anime though, and grew from that.
seriously, I think the term is repugnant and idiotic. is a Weeboo any different then some guy who thinks the worlds gonna end if the Knicks don't win their game? is it any different then a person waiting outside on the street corner to get tickets to some rock group for five days? people have unhealthy obsessions with alot of things, ya can't help it so ya deal with it.
the worlds not gonna end if a person likes Japanese **** over American **** and I think people make a big deal out of this **** because they are even more pathetic then the "Weeboos" they insult. ****, we have a long way to go as it is to catch up to Japans obsession with America and it goes alot farther then "mixing in english words in with their Japanese". untill I see weeboos bleaching their skin to be more pale or getting eye surgury to look Japanese, I think we aren't as bad with it as of yet.

Weeaboos aren't just people who like Japanese stuff over everything else. They're the people who insist on informing everyone how superior Japanese stuff is to everything else, constantly. Sort of like the people who keep coming into Power Rangers threads to tell everyone how much Power Rangers sucks, and Sentai is superior. Even when it has nothing to do with the topic.
