Wasnt there gonna be a Outlaw Star Sequal?

As far as I can remember back in say 2001 or so there was a rumor of an Outlaw star sequal in japan. I Wonder if it was scrapt or just put down

Anyone remember this?

Outlaw star is one of my top5 fav animes.

I didn't even know there was a rumour in the first place...anyway if it was made in 2001 and there's been nothing since then, then it's probably safe to say that there won't be a sequel unfortunately. In any case i think they more or less tied up the storyline right? The team found the Galactic Leyline, Gene and Melfina hooked up, Aisha and Suzuka joined the team permanently and the pirates had their asses handed to them. Only loose end was the MacDougalls.

It would be nice though to see a sequel.

The closest the franchise got to a sequel was Angel Links, which featured Deus and Valeria, who were in a ep of Outlaw Star as I remember.

Yeah, Angel Links was the sequel... except not because it didn't have any of the same characters or plot as outlaw star. It was also very retarded. The story was stupid and the only thing the show had going for it was the main character with the rediculous rack... seriously... there was a cat living in there. No joke.
