Vietnamese horror 'Arithmadtic' heads to Busan market

Vietnam's Bee Entertainment is showcasing a psychological horror film called "Arithmadtic" at the Busan Asian Contents & Film Market. The film is set in an elite international school and leads a genre-rich slate for the company. It's worth noting that Vietnamese films pulled in over VND3 trillion (around $114 million) last year, surpassing international titles for the first time.

Vietnamese films grossed more than VND3 trillion ($114 million) at home in 2025, outperforming international titles in the local market for the first time.

This looks like a solid entry for the festival circuit. Wonder how it'll stack up against other international offerings.

The exploration of psychological horror in "Arithmadtic" was something I really appreciated, especially how it built tension through the elite school setting. The way it played with themes of pressure and expectation added layers to the horror, making it not just about scares but also about the characters' psyche. It definitely stood out in the festival lineup and showcased how Vietnamese cinema is evolving.
