"Velma" Somehow Still Isn't Dead, Even If Velma Herself Is

Max’s Velma is probably the most maligned cartoon of this decade so far, but it just won’t accept its own failure. Here we are talking about a Halloween special after two entire uninterrupted seasons. Some people blame “hate-watching” for it getting this far, but it’s more likely the original contract was for two seasons and a special. If we hear of a third season after this, THEN panic. from what I’ve seen of this show, it’s not the single worst animated production of all time, but that doesn’t mean it’s good either. The main problem is that Velma lacks an identity of its own. I don’t doubt the new spin on the Scooby Gang was intended to be clever, but all the jokes and beats are stolen from other adult cartoons, where they were done better. Add to this…maybe Mindy Kaling’s whole thing is getting kind of annoying? This is literally Mindy Kaling as Velma; she had to make herself the center of attention even when it wasn’t necessary. The special’s title, Velma: This Halloween Needs to Be More Special, certainly sounds like the kind of pushy thing Kaling Velma would say. But you can at least take solace in […]

I can't believe they're actually making a Halloween special for Velma! Like, who even watches that show? It's a total dumpster fire. The characters are so unlikable, the jokes are lame, and the whole thing just feels forced. I mean, Velma getting the quadratic formula wrong? That's a new low, even for this show.

I'm surprised they haven't canceled Velma yet. It's clear that people are only watching it out of morbid curiosity or to hate-watch it. The show's quality hasn't improved at all, and it's just getting more and more ridiculous. I think they're hoping to milk it for as long as they can before it completely tanks

I was initially excited about Velma's feminist take on the Scooby-Doo franchise. However, the show's treatment of Fred is completely unacceptable. It's one thing to challenge gender stereotypes, but it's another to resort to harmful stereotypes of your own. Velma's constant insults and jokes about Fred's masculinity are not only offensive but also contribute to a toxic culture that perpetuates harmful stereotypes about men. It's important to remember that two wrongs don't make a right. While it's important to challenge harmful stereotypes, we should do so in a way that is respectful and constructive, not by resorting to harmful stereotypes of our own

I'm not surprised that Velma is getting renewed. It's clear that people are only watching it out of morbid curiosity or to hate-watch it. The show's quality hasn't improved at all, and it's just getting more and more ridiculous. I think they're hoping to milk it for as long as they can before it completely tanks.

I really hope this Halloween special doesn't lead to another season of Velma. Enough is enough. The show is just so bad. It's like they're trying to make us suffer. Please, just cancel it already. It's like they're trying to ruin my childhood memories. I grew up watching Scooby-Doo, and Velma was always one of my favorite characters. This show is just a complete disgrace.

The idea of a Velma Halloween special sounds like a desperate attempt to keep the show relevant. I'm not convinced that it's going to be any good, though. The show's biggest problem is that it's just not funny. The jokes are forced and the characters are unrelatable. I don't see how a Halloween special is going to fix that

I'm not even joking when I say this Velma show is so bad, it makes Emily in Paris look like a masterpiece. And I hate Emily in Paris. That's saying something. I mean, at least Emily in Paris is not brain rotting, even if it's cheesy and unrealistic. Velma is just painful to watch. It's like they're trying to make us suffer. The characters are so unlikable, the jokes are lame, and the whole thing just feels forced. It's like they're trying to make us suffer. I'm starting to think they're doing this on purpose. I'd rather watch paint dry than this show

Here we go again. Another Velma episode to ruin my childhood memories. Remember when Scooby-Doo was about solving mysteries and having fun? Now it's just an edgy mess that makes me want to rewatch the classic episodes on repeat. Thanks for nothing, Velma
