US Death Note Movie Movie Script Leaked!!

Why does it seem an anime fans opinion of a series is based almost solely on whether or not it had a totally satisfying finale? If watching the series is a waste without a cool last episode, why are you watching it? I'm genuinely curious.

My favorite example is Code Geass R2.

The General consensus while the show was airing: God this is so stupid, the plot twists and inane fan service are ruining this show. Even some of the fansubbers are dropping it with how stupid this sequel is.

The general consensus after the typical "Main character dies" ending: OMFG BEST SHOW THIS YEAR.

My thoughts

I just finished reading, and I enjoyed it. I thought it was a pretty good story BASED OFF Death Note. There were only few things I didn't care for.


___SPOILERS___

1 No Ryuk- Ryuk's awesome and it sucks that he's not in this draft.
2 L- He just didn't seem like the wierd, sweets munching, perverted detective a lot of us have grown to love. In this version he just seens too generic for my taste.
3 The Swearing- Now everyother word out of my mouth is the word "****" (that's only when I'm with my friends though), but I think the amount of swearing just doesn't work in a series like DN.
4 The last act seemed somewhat rushed, but I kind of liked Luke and L's meet at the end.

If this was the draft they used for the film, I'd give it 3.5 out of 5.

Well I see it a little diff., Vlas and and Charley have been writing Death Note since 2008, before WB announced it,

in doing research i found excerpts from the script was leaked in may 09 on a french death note site

To be honest even if this script is fake i don't see the real script being a huge deviation from this

The leaked script is very conservative

a screenwriter once told me hollywood doesn't write movies for LA, NY, Chicago

they make movies for the biggest movie markets, which are conservative cities

St Louis, MO and Nashville, Tn

having ryuk and death note at once would be just to much for those people, this way they can focus more on the death note

maybe? for sequels ray pen. is still alive, so to avoid jail time luke kills ray when he finds a torn page, and ryuk comes because he likes lukes style and digs up the death not for him, so he can kill ray's girl ,

and L brings Luke on board because someone is claiming to be The 2nd Kira, Lukes motivation in the 2nd movie could be to avoid jail time and death

and the 3rd can be about building a perfect world,


you should know Roy Lee the Ceo of Virtigo Entertainment

he gained fame for turning japanese movies into u.s remakes, when asian companies wanted to just sell their movies in U.S as is, he told them they're too japanese to work, and they gave roy the rights to sell the remake to a U.S Studio

The ending in the draft was ???? Not what I expected. And no Ryuk??!!!!!! (fail, imo)

(I've only skim throught the draft so...)Mom was murdered. (guess that's why Sarah was living since the girlfriend died in JPN ver) Luke didn't die the end. wth (unless there's gonna be another one). Light was never scared of the notebook (of course I think Light went crazy, and Luke is?

As for Death Note in general, I enjoyed reading the manga up until vol 8 (we all know what happens in vol 7/8. It got boring for me afterwards) I only read the rest of it just to finish the story. I wasn't into the anime much either. I have low expectations for this movie. Now, I'm not saying that the JPN ver is better, I found them boring, expect for L's movie...somewhat. I had low expectations for Chun Li and DBE. I wouldn't go to the theaters to watch it. I'd probably rent it when it comes out on DVD and read reviews/summary on how good/bad it really was.
