Ultra Series Speculation For This Year

This is a bit different and more exclusive than what the general Ultraman thread would allow, as well as a certain other thread made by Knight Phoenix.

The reason why is pure and simple fanboyisim, but not of Ultraman Dyna.

Instead I'd like to pose a question to those who would know more on this than I-and it's not an absurd one I believe or a silly one, given the history of the subject.

Namely do you think that, regardless what our hopeful new Ultraman movie next year is about, the annual two part Special Direct to DVD story will be about UltraSeven?

Possibly lead into either a new mini series or less possibly movie?

I ask because this is his 45th anniversary, and I acknowledge that if this was any other Toku hero (besides maybe Godzilla depending on things) that that wouldn't mean ****-but there's a reason I mentioned "the history of the subject." up above.

While this isn't perfect, as far as I am aware nothing related to UltraSeven was done in 1992 beyond maybe the concepts for the Ultraman Neos and UltraSeven 21 series-that may simply be because of the various over seas projects that the company was involved in, delaying it because... Two years after that, 1994, two TV movies were made of UltraSeven, a successor and sequel to his original TV show in a more solid way than even Return of Ultraman was supposed to be.

This lead to, again missing the mark a bit but only by a year, the 1998 continuation of direct to DVD sequels. Again, the delay may have been due in part to the other projects running at the time-whatever it was however did not rear its head again as the follow up came immediately, another Ultra Seven series being produced in 1999.

It would ultimately wrap up in UltraSeven Evolution, which started in 2001 and ran into 2002, his 35th anniversary. This collected new UltraSeven series, running in and through 94, 98, 99, 01-02, compiled is as long as your average Ultraman TV show, due to the length of the episodes being increased to fit movie standards in Japan. So in effect, for his general 25th, 30th and 35th anniversaries, he got an entire new TV series in all but name.

Fast forward five years to his 40th, and he got another, actual TV series. UltraSeven X, another continuation of his series, could even be taken to take place after UltraSeven Evolution if you accept certain things with the way both shows end with Seven on the beach. But that's fanwanky at best. Seven X, for whatever you thought of it, and I understand it's a polarizing subject among some, was still a success on its own terms and something rarely seen before-a true TV sequel to a Toku hero starring said hero. Kamen Rider has only recently started doing something similar with Den-O in movies, but nothing quite like what Seven got in that work.

Which brings me back to the point.

Do you think they have something in store for Seven this year, the eve of his 45th, as they have for the last 20 years? Even if it's something as small as being the focus of the traditional 2 part DVD adventure.

I admit I am very curious on this matter, both in terms of the franchise, and in terms of Seven's odd popularity. Oh, and because I'm a massive fanboy who is very long winded and likes to use a lot of words.

Could there be another "UltraSeven Evolution" style series, a grouping of several movies and specials separated by almost a full decade? And I guess it's fair to ask-should there be? Even just another solo series starring the guy.

I don't know, I don't know what the situation is, or what the chances are. This is why the thread was made. I can't even contemplate what's to come in 5 years, on his 50th-only hope that the Ultraman franchise is still alive.

TLDR: I'm curious if there will be an UltraSeven series or special in this or next year, considering it is his 45th and they have done something similar or more every time before now for the last 20 years. Also lots of fanboyisim.
