In the early 1960s, Toho's special effects master, one Eiji Tsuburaya, decided to launch his own effects company. This in turn let him into developing a television series similar to both The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits that would feature a bunch of stories revolving around monsters. This series, deemed Ultra Q, would go on to launch an entire franchise that is still running to this day. Is Ultra Q a masterpiece, or was it just a hit due to it being the first of its kind?
