Soundwave is one of the most iconic names in the Transformers franchise, so naturally he got a spot in the successful "War For Cybertron" video game and was selected to be the final WFC toy in the Generations line.
Since Soundwave's original alternate mode is now outlandishly ineffective thanks to technological advancements, recent incarnations of the character have offered a variety of transformation forms.
Generations Soundwave gets a Cybertronian Vehicle form that somewhat resembles an angry SUV. I'm not sure why exactly it has teeth. As Cybertronian vehicles go its pretty OK.
To be fair, I have seen more than a few fan-modes of this toy:
Doing their best to recreate the characters' "classic" heritage."
Robot Mode is a pretty typical Soundwave reincarnation. Keeps nearly all the traditional elements- head, chest and weapons are almost perfect revamps of the '84 mold.
Soundwave's weapons can collapse into battery-sized capsules and can be stored in his chest cavity for transportation. This is a nice bonus but also serves to highlight my biggest problem with this version of Soundwave:
He's alone.
Virtually every other Soundwave comes with at least one mini-henchmen for added play value, but this one doesn't. Perhaps some dedicated repro-part organization can fix that in the future...
In the meantime, Soundwave is pretty OK by himself. Articulation is decent although the positioning of his arms & related vehicle-kibble can make some poses difficult.
Overall Soundwave's a pretty good Cybertronian mold and is a fairly decent way to wrap up the WFC set. Mildly Recommended.
