Total Drama Island - Talkback

My review of the finale, and retrospect of the series.

[HIDE]It seems they used the original Canadian episode after all! OWEN WINS!!!

Fresh Animation had prepared an alternate version of the episode, where Gwen wins, but CN's official TDI website had a poll to determine whether Gwen or Owen would win, and the voters chose Owen. Maybe the other version will be an extra on a DVD release?

I had no problem with the episode. Let's face it, Owen, gross as he was, was lovable through and through, and was destined to win. But at least Trent and Gwen were happily reunited, and I was happy with that! It had a kind of Rocky effect to it. (Rocky lost, but Adrian still loved him, no matter what.)

It was hilarious that Chris got dunked into the lake off the Dock of Shame! He's actually my favorite character on the show. Yes, he's a total dick, but he's quite likable at the same time! He enjoys what he does, and gets a hilariously misanthropic pleasure of emotionally torturing the 22 campers. (I think most of the campers were meant to be hated, as they were cardboard cut-out stereotypes and such, and few of them had any redeeming values. The series sort of has the same delightfully misanthropic effect as Clone High USA, which had a WAAAAY more devastating ending than TDI! ) Plus, Chris was voiced by the charismatic Christian Potenza (Jude from 6teen)!

That said, I can't wait to see the Total Drama Drama Drama Drama Island special, and the forthcoming Total Drama Action, and see who wins in it![/HIDE]

I agree. It'd be better if they did the alternate ending of Gween winning TDI. Oh well, at least well get to see the special. Oh and speaking of the special, it has uploaded on Veoh, but you need to download the Veoh Web Player to watch the whole thing.

I just got done DLing the whole show from there. Look for user Jirachi829.

As far as the other campers go, most of them were likeable. Except for Heather, of course. Thankfully, Leshawna got some payback on her in the end.

I have to say, I was really disappointed in Bridgette, Geoff and DJ for bailing on Gwen in favor of Owen. But I have a feeling she, Trent and Leshawna will be in an alliance together in TDA.

There are rumors flying that Justin is the new bad guy of TDA and that Heather's role might be changed to anti-hero or possibly even protagonist. But knowing her, it's not likely.

Oh, yeah! I was being objective with my last post. Of course, SOMEBODY has to like them! There are some campers I like a lot. (Gwen, Trent, Leshawna, Harold, Owen, Izzy, Justin, Lindsay, etc.)

And yes, it was great to see Heather get a humiliating comeuppance! Again.

Hey, at least Owen was generous enough to invite Gwen to his party with Trent! He surprisingly did not play favorites like the others did. Something I found touching. It's funny how Owen is relatively more altruistic than most of the campers. The twist is what I enjoy most about the episode's ending, and I liked it.

Yeah, probably not, but you never know. :)

Fantasy TDI x-over!!

Here's to Justin being Kiriyama and Heather as Mitsuko!

Yeah, I mean Gwen said that there were five people that she could trust and those deuschbags Bridgette, DJ, and Geoff sold her out all because the stupid fat guy mentioned the word, "Party". I was still pissed for the fact that we didn't get to see the alternate ending of Gwen winning the show, but at least we get to see the TDI special last night.

Speaking of which, season 1 will rewound back to the first episode to the special every Thursday nights starting on January, and TDA will be released in the U.S. in the summer of '09

In the meantime, I'll be watching TDA at an earlier time on Veoh.

Can't wait, and stay tuned for all the excitement of Total Drama ACTION!!!:castlerock:

I was under the impression of people Gwen thought were not completely insane at the camp. Which was DJ, Trent, Geoff, Bridgette, LaShawna and even Cody (which she equate as an annoying little brother-type). Don't forget, DJ, Bridgette and Geoff were on the opposing team at the start then Gwen and Owen and were basically cool with nearly most of the campers. They mostly saw them both equally until Owen tempted the big party plans to include everyone and of course being 16, partying with friends tend override any sound judgement. Geoff did mention earlier at the episode where Lashawna got kicked off that Owen should get the money and being close buds with DJ and Bridgette being his main squeeze, Geoff got some pull without realizing it. The guy did win class president without giving a speech...

I didn't really have too much against Owen. I mean, he was a nice guy and all. He just wasn't a favorite of mine. I'm not really ticked at Lindsay for switching sides since it seemed like she did feel guilty about it.

I'll be watching TDI through Veoh myself since I REALLY don't wanna wait until CN gets the eps.

Yeah, I guess so. Plus Owen wasn't my favourite either. Also by judging on Lindsay's face when she swap sides, she was either feeling confused or guilty. My guess is that the Blonde was looking guilty when she left Gwen's side.:nono:

Anywho, now that we're done with Season 1 I am just getting psyched for season 2 in January.

I hope to see it on Veoh.
