One thing to remember is that in Japan, manga in general is not associated with Otaku. Only certain genres are. You regularly see salarymen and schoolkids of all ages reading Shounen Jump on the subway. That's why I think stuff like Naruto and One Piece aren't going to be what's targeted by this.

If the big companies are boycotting TAF it's probably because of the principle of the matter, not because of any real danger they're in. That doesn't make it any less dangerous to free speech, but if your primary interest in this matter is "am I going to get to read Bleach next year!?" you can probably rest easy.

I just don't see it happening, even then. You were quoting "This Movie Has Not Yet Been Rated" in another thread before? Remember the bit where they interviewed the South Park guys, and they mentioned how once they were major creators, the MPAA was suddenly willing to play ball in terms of altering their film's ratings?

I'm talking about that phenomenon, basically. Laws like this don't go after the big players, they pick off the powerless ones at the bottom.

With the crazy **** this guy has been saying, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he tries going after the big publishers, too.

It seems odd that he's made a complete 180 on his long standing viewpoint. That's not a normal thing. I wonder if there's actually something wrong with him.
