The Tokusatsu Fanbase: You Know It's Growing Bigger Right?

Dark Heart

The Bun Is In Your Mind
I mean it's true. The Tokusatsu thing is a lot bigger than you guys realize. It is popular in almost every country around the world and is attracting a increasingly expanding following in English speaking countries such as the US and UK. I largely pin this on sites like Wikipedia and YouTube.

I dont really see it getting to big in the UK, hell look how many anime fans there are here and still no decent TV station and overly priced DVD's.

But yer wiki, youtube and word of mouth seem to be helping spread the word, ive had a few of my friends who have children that are into power rangers ask about where to get the next series toys early (the japanese counterparts lol)

While that may be true, it still does not hold a candle to the huge anime fanbase in the U.S. Hell, for every Captain Marvelous cosplayer at a convention you'll see about 5000 Bleach Shinigami cosplayers. While it is getting through due to word of mouth, and the fact that modern tokusatsu is becoming more anime-like (*COUGH*DEN-O*COUGH*), it still won't be as big as anime is out here.

I'll probably start believing it when I start seeing an Imagin to Narutard ratio of 70-30 lol :loltongue:

It's expanding, but it's not to the point where it'll be able to compete with the anime fanbase.

It HAS adopted some traits of the anime fandom, possibly due to anime fans getting into tokusatsu one way or another. I was a fan of the Kikaider and Cyborg 009 anime series' before checking out Ishinomori's live action work. Before then my only exposure to tokusatsu was through Ultraman, Power Rangers, and the occasional Godzilla movie.

Personally, I don't think it'll ever attract an English-speaking fanbase quite as large as the anime fanbase. Not until people cut it out with the extensive editing.

Dude, you hate everything. I'm not surprised.

I think I agree with King on this, mostly due to the console fan boys and there stupid war on each other, also when people tend to be a little too into something they get a bit strange *twilightfangirls* and how some fanboys on here obsess over Disney stars too :redface2::sweat::sly:

Oh, don't get me wrong; I get his point. I'm just fucking with him.

Why? Because I can. :loltongue:

Doing it because you can? You know what they call people like that? Politicians.

Every fanbase has its horrible people. Doesn't mean the entire thing is rotten.

The thing people are being fans about, in this case toku, is great. The way the fandom acts as a whole... Not so great. This is why I stay in my little corner, and try not to get to involved.
