The Nintendo Entertainment System was one of the most popular consoles of all time, as well as one of the most significant for resuscitating the entire game market. Even though they haven’t been manfactured since the mid-90s, there are still plenty of them to be found in working order — the final total was 61.91 million. And the Switch has now surpassed that only halfway through its life.
68.30 million Switches are now out there, with 6.86 million units sold in just the last fiscal quarter alone. It’s a dramatic turnaround for the world’s greatest video game maker, having created one of the biggest flops ever with their previous effort, the Wii U. That device only managed to sell 13.56 million units.
Nintendo has also sold 456.49 million games on the Switch, the biggest seller being Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 28.99 million, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons which has moved 26.04 million in less than a year’s time. Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokemon...
