The "Say Something Nice About Go-Onger" Thread!

Here are a few good things about it.

The series is laugh out loud funny in a lot of occasions (most notably the Sousuke Banki episode).

The relationships between the Rangers and their partner mecha is very heartfelt and built up throughout the entire season, so when things get hairy at the end, you actually give a **** about them when they start dropping like flies.

Take-Off Go-on Wings is probably one of the best sixth ranger theme songs I've ever heard. Right up there with Ikkan Kenjou.

I really started enjoying the villains near the end, watching them all sorta turn into semi-good guys by the time the final act rolled around.

The final episode where they each do their transformations without their helmets on is just awesome.

The Go-On wings just in general are great. They were a small bit of much-needed seriousness in a time where the show began to get too campy even for me.

I know theres a lot more, but that'd mean I'd have to find time to rewatch the series, and I just dont have that kind of time. But I LOVE Go-Onger.

A lot of people forget that the show was made INTENTIONALLY to be a comedy, and was a nice breath of fresh air coming off of the super serial that was Gekiranger. I'm not saying Geki was bad, quite the opposite. But after all that seriousness we needed something a bit more laid back.

I'd say I rank it about the same as I do Den-O. A very good very humorous season. I'd actually probably rank it higher because they didnt release 9 FUCKING MOVIES AND RUN IT INTO THE GROUND >______<;;;

I like all the Go-Onger characters (except Hanto) and think they all get pretty good development. My favorites are the Wings, Sousuke, and Saki.

The Engines are some of the most awesome side characters there is in Sentai.

The interaction between the Go-Ongers and the Engines, and the whole partner concept was well done and fun to watch.

Many of the fights are pretty cool.

The music is totally awesome.

The humor is pretty funny sometimes.

Hiramechimedes is a descent villain.

Both of Go-Ongers team-ups (with Geki and Shinken) as well as the movie are all totally awesome.

Overall, despite a lack of story and some writing flaws with the Go-On Wings/Hiramechimedes arc, Go-Onger is a fun ride and I'm enjoying watching it for the third time.

Hidenori Tokuyama rocked as Go-On Gold. Laid-back characters are usually his best roles. Great voice too. I love his song " Miss You " !

It gave us Power Rangers RPM. :)

Except thats not really something you can credit Go-Onger for. Other than suits and robots (which I will remind you were really more obstacles than benefits) the entire series is a tonal shift so massive that you could pretty much put ANY season in the slot that Go-Onger filled and it would have been pretty much the exact same show.

Come on Keith, you can not honestly tell me that there is not a SINGLE THING you like about the actual Go-Onger show. NOTHING?! REALLY?!

Just gonna chime in my 2 cents. Go-Onger was a series I was really skeptical of getting into, sort of like Hibiki for Kamen Rider. However, I went into it with an open mind, and walked out with having a new favorite Sentai. It won't top Gekiranger as my star since Geki was superb in my book, as well as my first not-Shinkenger Sentai. However, Go-Onger was certainly the most fun I had with Sentai. I think it had a nice blend of plot and comedy to make it fairly interesting to watch. The dynamic between the Go-Ongers and their Engines reminded me a lot of Digimon, and that's something I enjoyed a lot too.

I liked almost all the characters, the villains were pretty entertaining, and even at the most zany moments, there was still usually a purpose to it all. The Engines were my favorite part of the show, and the sentience of them all really enhanced the experience to me.

While it's not my #1 Sentai, it's certainly one of my favorites. Having actually watched the show, I definitely don't see the hate.
