The original Karate Kid slams on the upcoming remake

Instead of a remake, they should make a conclusion to Daniel's story. It begins with Miyagi's death and Daniel takes his body back to Okinawa for a funeral and cremation. There he tries to hook up with Kumiko and come to terms with his grief over Miyagi's death. While in Okinawa, Daniel learns of Miyagi's past. Through flashbacks, we see young Miyagi learning karate from his father, falling in love with Yukie, and the development of his feud with Sato which leads him to leave Okinawa. It should be more of a drama, as in less karate and more character building.

I can see Hollywood doing Seven Samurai...and I don't mean Magnificent 7...but literally do a Seven Samurai remake.

It'll probably star Chinese kung fu actors, who really do not fit the samurai mold.

Speaking of which, Will Smith wants Jackie Chan to play the Miyagi role, from what I heard in older news! I can't even picture Jackie Chan as a karate master, unless Will Smith changed the name of the film to The Kung Fu Kid! Why not get Beat Takeshi Kitano? He has appeal in the US, too!

Other than that, Ralph Macchio's critique of this remake is quite valid.
