The Original Dragonball Series Is Coming to DVD!!!!

They tried that. It was called Dragonball Evolution, but the fans of the original pouted, stopped their feet and cried "It's not the same!"

I also picked up this DVD set today as a "To me, From me" birthday gift.

It's a lot slower paced than DBZ, that's for sure, at least from what I've seen so far.

The story starts like that, but as it gets beyond the Tournament saga, it gets faster pacing.

Story progression is about the same. It's the fighting scenes that really make the difference in terms of pacing. The absolute longest fight in Dragon Ball is six episodes long, and that's the climactic battle of the series.

Confirmed Release Dates for Seasons 2-5:

Season 2 November 10th, 2009
Season 3 February 16th, 2010
Season 4 May 11th, 2010
Season 5 September 14th, 2010

I kind of liked Dragonball Evolution for the fact that it was kind of different. Granted, it'd been more well-received if it had been more like the anime or the manga, but I still enjoyed it.

Of course, I watched it around the same time as I saw Street Fighter - The Legend of Chun-Li, so Dragonball Evolution was Citizen Kane in comparison. Anywho, I'll be getting my copy of season one this week. :D

I guess there are alot of DB fans where I live because I had to order mine online due to it selling out by last Wednesday at Best Buy.

I have a question to anyone who has bought the Remastered Dragon Ball box sets...

Is it like the Remastered DBZ box sets that has the painted-on wide screen black bars at the top and bottom as well as grain removal and over saturation to the point where parts of the picture are ruined?

Or is it like the Dragon Box where the video is in its original full screen ratio, uncut with all the original Japanese music (from Openings to Endings and so fourth), everything is kept in tact, original eye catches and episode previews, and everything else like that?
