The Official HJU Beijing Olympic Games Thread

Aaand...

Usain Bolt is ridiculous.

Bolt (no relation Im guessing.) is freakin fast as hell. I just dont like how he boasts about it. I mean, if he kept at his top speed in teh 100m, he could have gotten something like 9.59 from what I hear. teh fact that he shows of kinda brings the win down a bit. But, teh dude is unnaturally fast. he makes it looks so damn easy too.

Yeah, I don't really like him. I heard the announcer saying that he talked to the guy about being cocky and condescending, but tonight in the 200m he did the exact same thing. The guy from the US was going all out, almost winning, and over here there's Usain Bolt trotting along. He slows down and speeds up to mess around with the other runners...that's just not cool. The early celebration in the 100m was even more ridiculous.

I'm in awe of his abilities but also really disappointed that the world's fastest man has this kind of personality.

He's jsut having fun out there, no one else is faulting him for it. When you got that kind of adrenaline running through you its hard not to get excited. I 've seen more ridiculous things from NFL touchdown celebrations.

No one else is faulting him for it? It was one of the biggest topics discussed among the commentators.

I understand he's having fun. But he's at the freaking Olympics. There's a certain level of value and sportsmanship that you need to display at such an important international event. Thus, don't compare it to anything that occurs in the NFL.

It's not okay to "just have fun out there" when you're being disrespectful to the other athletes. And that kind of adrenaline? Can you imagine how much adrenaline Michael Phelps has? But I don't see him messing around with other athletes or celebrating during the race when he has a big lead. Of course it's okay to celebrate; although I don't see it as very tasteful, it's okay for Bolt to dance and hold up his gold shoes after the race. But DURING the race is a different matter.

I don't know if you're an athlete, since you have that kind of mindset. But if you are you should understand.

Yeah, indeed Bolt was unrespectful. But, and I dont want to be polemic or anything, all of those discussions you said were from USA commenters, right? What Im tryin to say it's that it seems more of a butthurt coz the USA havent dominated...you know, commenters are always supporters first. It's normal:-)
