There usually aren't attacks during transformation unless the transformation protects the user.

the cowboy type of deal would fit the idea of the lighter being the belt since mostly texans or cowboys would use those type. a villian rider would work for this as well.

Toei probably wouldn't go for it because it wants to market everything as a toy. Toy cigarettes and accessories wouldn't be a good idea.

Swords? Have them compacted into dagger form and sheathed at the side of his belt. When he unsheaths a dagger he says a word and it transforms into a sword while also changing his form. Not sure what the name would be though since blade is taken.

Sounds oddly like the Sword of Omens from Thundercats.

ever watched jackie chan adventures? 12 zodiac talismans.....they don't necessarily change forms or anything, but gives different abilities:

dragon: shoot fireballs
tiger: separate being to good and evil
dog: eternal life
horse: healing powers
rooster: flight
rabbit: super speed
boar: laser eye beam?
rat: bring motion to motionless
sheep: astral projection
ox: super strength
snake: invisibility
monkey: shape shift

im not saying do this exact thing, but something similar. would be pretty cool eh?

I've seen that show. Now that I think about it, those Talismans sound like something between Blade's cards and OOO's Core Medals.

- Lighters (like one's that comes with it's own belt buckle. he can transform by lighting himself on fire forming his rider suit. and different lighters equals different forms)

Well, considering that they made one-off Rider powered by booze, that doesn't sound too weird.

Villains usually are the ones with cigarettes. It's either that or older detective types.

The Kabuto Riders have transformation protection to an extent too, with their Cast Off.

Cast Off is not the actual transformation. The bulky armor is the transformation and it's not as much protection seeing as how the protection is launched.

What about Kouga from GARO?

GARO has many exceptions. It has nudity in the first episode and all sorts of weird stuff.

I know it's unoriginal to have ninjas as a theme, but it'd just be really cool....

Glamador will go ahead and repeat his idea from the Cyborg Rider thread here, because it's more fitting in this one.

Batteries stolen from defeated enemies (with multiple batteries of a particular color, like the medals) which would be inserted into the driver in sets of 3 or 4. The batteries would fill the rider (who I suggested would already BE a cyborg) with various colored energies that you could X-ray inside him and show all the different switchboards and things being activated in sequence.

Each energy type could activate a different ability stolen from defeated foes and the # of similar batteries used could strengthen the effect. That way we get not only different forms but different intensities AND combined effects in one handy device.

Plus I love the idea of batteries because the self-parody is already built in! It's a toy line marketed to kids! Batteries not included! Love it!

The secondary rider could even use an old-school crank that has to be wound up to activate abilities like starting a 1920s era motorcar.
