The Lesser-Known Toku Discussion Thread

In all fairness, those are young children singing. Not some pop singer who sings in near-falsetto tones.

As for songs with children singing, I'm quite fond of the theme song for "Ganbare!! Robocon."

I tried to find a full french version of the opening song, but that's the ending. Didn't like it either, though it felt like a woman singing.

This is the one I am referring to:

If the English version had this beat, I'd like it more.

Anyone besides me ever seen Guyferd? Shichisei Tōshin Guyferd (Seven Star Fighting God Guyferd) is the full name. Only the first 10 episodes were subbed, but I love it so much. I watched the raws for the rest, and while I sometimes had almost no idea what was going on, it was a fun show. I'd love to see it get finished someday...

Yeah! Guyferd is awesome! Too bad Elite Justice is no more...

Count me in for that. I actually never got to finishing the raws though.

I just stumbled across a nice (though not entirely spoiler-free) little review for 'Space Amoeba' here. One that lovers of Godzilla, Gamera etc should check out

I've never watched any of Guyferd, but his suit design is amazing. :o

Feels like a lot of these 'off-brand' Toku series suits bear a striking resemblance to Ultraman. Wonder why that is.

Are ANY of these things subbed? Even HK? Raws just don't do anything for me. If the plot is simple enough that I can follow along w/ the raws, I'm not really interested in watching it.

I just watched "Frankenstain Conquers The World" this weekend, and it was quite an interesting movie to watch.

I mean, it was cool to see the Frankenstain aspect tackled from a Kaiju perspective, and the whole plot about frankenstain´s heart its as silly as it is brilliant. You gotta love the pseudo-science of this movies.

And now off to watch War of the Gargantuas...

yes i had
when guyferd was aired in local tv station, it paved as one of the history of my childhood (other than ZO)

where did you watch the raw recently?

I've been reading a fair bit about the 'Iron King' series this evening, so I thought I'd ask you guys about it. I guess it all boils down to three questions:
Is it any good?
Is it actually a Tsuburaya show or was it made by someone else? (Amazon, IMDB and wikipedia all seem a bit indecisive on this)
I've heard that the Mill Creek release messes up the timing on the subs compared to the BCI release. Are there any other obvious differences between the two sets? (I ask because there seem to be a bunch of US imports of the DVD going cheaply on Amazon UK at the moment, but they seem a bit vague as to which release they are and I want to get the right one)
