On a semi related note, here are two shows, that while not neccessarily "old" or "nostalgic," had pretty novel concepts and didn't get much deserved recognition when they aired. Thus they're probably pretty obscure (anyone remember or hear of them other than me?):

(This one was a pretty decently made show for it's genre/"demographic", having unusually sophisticated characters, storytelling, and dialogue. The decent use of motion capture technology in the animation helped as well.)

Sorry, about posting this so late, but I just found two particular shows that I have been searching for years for, and I wonder if anyone else remembers them.

The first is "Xcalibur," a French-Canadian CGI based show. An alternate take on King Arthur (rather a prequel really), featuring Princess Djana, Herek and Whip the Dragon on a search for, and later the guarding of, the legendary sword "Xcalibur" which deems the user the right to become King, as well as the young Arthus, destined to wield the sword once he finally becomes of age, from Djana's evil uncle, Prince Bragan and his master, the demon "Kwodahn."

The other one is likely more obscure, "Ruffus the Dog" (interesting that dogs seem to go well with books, i.e. Wishbone and the like).

It mainly involves Muppet-like (it was made by Radical Sheep Productions actually, they were the creators behind "The Big Comfy Couch") animal characters re-enacting various well-known stories (Sinbad the Sailor, Robin Hood, Robinson Crusoe, 20'000 Leagues Under the Sea, and so on) while Ruffus the Dog (who incidentally plays the main character in these re-enactments), the owner of a quaint bookshop, narrates, sings (surprisingly well for a kids show, actually), and provides additional commentary.

If you remember the show, or wanted a little bit of nostalgia of those really good "edutainment" shows you might have watched as a kid and have it be "new", or at least a good show for your younger sibling, relative, etc, to help them appreciate books (suprisingly a rarity in this day and age, mostly of them are more focused on "how" to read, rather than "why"), well here you go.
