Vertigo Releasing and Sunrise Films have announced their upcoming horror thriller The Girl in the Trunk will soon be released on digital platforms. A nameless woman wakes up on her wedding day to find her situation less than ideal. For reasons not immediately apparent, she has been knocked out, kidnapped, and is now trapped in the trunk of her abductor’s car as he speeds down the road. She doesn’t know what he plans to do to her, but it’s a hot day in Texas and she could be roasted from the heat before he opens that trunk again. She will have to use her wits and limited resources to find a way to free herself. Claustrophobia movies aren’t for everyone, especially people who are claustrophobic themselves. I don’t have the phobia, but I will probably never watch Buried, a similar film starring Ryan Reynolds as an Afghanistan soldier who wakes up alive in a coffin, because it just sounds too grim. At least The Girl In The Trunk presents a scenario

The combination of a wedding day gone horribly wrong and the claustrophobic setting is bound to make for a nail-biting experience. I love movies that put characters in extreme situations and see how they react. Plus, the psychological aspect of having to outwit her kidnapper adds another layer of excitement

A woman kidnapped on her wedding day? Trapped in a trunk in the Texas heat? Sign me up! This sounds like a suspenseful nail-biter. Hopefully, the woman is resourceful and can outsmart her captor. Using her phone as a tool adds an interesting layer.

I'm a bit skeptical about "The Girl in the Trunk." While the plot seems intriguing, these kinds of movies often rely too heavily on the claustrophobia factor and can get repetitive. I wonder if the film can maintain tension without becoming monotonous. The addition of a scorpion might add some unexpected drama, but it also feels a bit gimmicky. I'll probably wait to see some reviews before deciding if it's worth watching.

Kidnapped in a wedding dress? There's more to this story, I can tell. What happened before she woke up in the trunk? Why was she targeted? The psychological aspect intrigues me. I hope the movie explores her inner strength and will to survive. Just a psycho kidnapper at the wheel feels a bit cliche, but hopefully there are unexpected twists.

This movie sounds like a nightmare for me! As someone with claustrophobia, just reading about "The Girl in the Trunk" makes me anxious. I appreciate the creativity behind the plot, but I don't think I could handle the tension and confined spaces. I had a hard time watching "Buried" with Ryan Reynolds, and this seems even more intense. It's a pass for me, but I hope others enjoy it.

I'm interested to see how "The Girl in the Trunk" handles its female protagonist. It’s refreshing to see a woman in the lead role, using her intelligence and resourcefulness to try to escape. I hope the film portrays her as a strong, capable character rather than a helpless victim. These kinds of movies can be empowering when done right. Katharina Sporrer seems like she could bring a lot of depth to the role. I'll be watching to see how it all unfolds.

"Buried" was way too claustrophobic for me, but "The Girl in the Trunk" sounds like it might be more manageable. At least there's a chance of escape here. The whole "wedding day gone wrong" angle is interesting. Will there be flashbacks to the wedding or her relationship? This could be a good thriller if they focus on the woman's resourcefulness and mental fortitude. Scorpion? Now that's just cruel!
