The Flash (1990) Talk Thread

I'm up to episode 4, and I'm enjoying it. The acting's really good, and I really liked the version of Barry in the pilot, someone who really wants his family's respect, and tends to take things very personally. I also really like the costume.

However, it's apparent that the people who made this reallywant this to be Tim Burton's Batman. 80% of the scenes take place at night, there is this subplot about Flash's existence being a legend instead of a fact, heck the theme song is done by Danny Elfman.

Also, why'd they get rid of Iris? I mean, I know in this show she was annoying, but dammit she's Barry's wife! Maybe I'm just sore from having there marriage dissolved in the comics. :(

Yeah the show was pretty good, a pity it only lasted a season. But yeah the Burton Batman influence was in full effect. It even hit the syndicated Superboy show for the last couple of seasons, at least in tone: getting darker, a tad edgier, I'm pretty sure a villain of the week blew up once or twice.

As for getting rid of Iris I don't really know why they did it. More than likely the producers like the chemistry between Barry Allen and the female doctor (whose name and actress I am currently drawing a blank on) and tried to put in a little Moonlighting 'will they or won't they?' into it. And it's a little hard to do that with Iris in the picture, not without having Barry look like a complete and total jackass for cheating on Iris.

Attempted to watch this series once and it was so bad that I had to finish the pilot on 3x speed just to see if anything cool was going to happen. It didn't.

Even as a kid I didn't really dig this show, but i'm generally in favor of anything that gets Mark Hamill a paycheck.

i re-visted this series after 20 years. i remember watching this as a child when my father had us stationed at clark air base in the philippines. its funny that dawsons father from dawsons creek plays the flash lol. i really enjoyed this show myself. i thought it was really ahead of his time. they combined some of barry's qualities with wally's. its funny my friend praises that this show is more accurate to what a crime labs officer does in comparison to csi. plus, one of the teachers from boy meets world plays barrys partner in the lab. i do miss iris, but i also liked tina in this series and the chemistry she has with barry.

Fantastic show, made me fall in love with the Barry Allen flash and to me he is Barry Allen. I think this show is hugely underrated, why isn't this show a bigger cult hit? Simply fantastic show, a shame that it didn't last long and we only got a few rogues towards the end of the show but it was still a very solid show.

Tina was a great love interest but I did miss the love triangle they were going for in the pilot movie which they got rid of in episode 2. It's this show that makes me wish for a new tv show based on the flash or at the very least a movie.

apprently they changed the time a lot and the iraq war coverage really fucked up the ratings back in the day. plus, it cost a lot of money to do. my mother is a huge david cassidy fan, and was surprised to see him as the mirror master lol after re-visiting it on dvd. and mark hammill was the trickster and he did have some joker traces in it lol.

but i really love this show a lot.
