The Blackest Night - Talkback

I have not read it yet but I sure will. Oh yeah my local shop has 50 rings!!!!!!

Read it! READ IT NAOW!!!

This is quite possibly the single greatest comic issue I've ever read. **** comes outta left field you have no way of expecting. Incredibly intense...

Well damn.

Thoughts:

Spirits don't seem to matter. Ralph and Sue Dibny are ghost spirits over in Outsiders, whereas their bodies clearly rise here. Batman is not dead, but I'll be damn if we don't see him before the end. You can also see Kilowog's body in the back of the Lantern splash.

And the Guardians are out of the picture. Time for the Lanterns of Earth to take this show on the road.

I noted the Blacks seeing the Hawks in the color spectrum, but also that Carter's changed from Red (Rage) to Violet (Love) during Kendra's speech.

The Hawks hearts each provided .01% charge. What happens when they reach 100%?

And it's odd, seeing how Johns brought them back a couple of years ago, how he's the one to kill them again. Does Morrison get a turn this time around?

More on the color spectrum thing: Look at this cover for a future GLC.

Actually if you noticed we saw up to .02%, and I'm assuming they were still rising considering the rings were still glowing at the end.

But no, the spirits don't matter, I had assumed this before BN started. The Rings reanimate the bodies.

You have to wonder how the Blue Lanterns are gonna be able to stand up to the Black Lanterns. I mean, their normal weakness aside, they can enhance the Green Lantern rings, neutralize and heal the effects of the Red Lantern rings, drain the power of the Sinesto Corps' rings and they're immune to the Orange Lantern's energy stealing power.

Each heart provided .01%. Carter's was the first, and Kendra's brought them up to .02%. I assume when they kill and absorb 100 heroes, something big will go down.

I wouldn't be surprised if Black is the only color they can't deal with.

Over in Tales, it seems Indigo's forte is the ability to redirect Lantern energy. That and they seem to think compassion means to put the almost dead out of their misery.

The thing is rage and love are established as the two polar extremes on the spectrum. I think Johns is just trying to say how much the two hawks compensate for each other.

And it's odd, seeing how Johns brought them back a couple of years ago, how he's the one to kill them again. Does Morrison get a turn this time around?
But ever since he brought them back, he has established that they are stuck in a perpetual cycle of death and rebirth. In a word, I doubt they are going to be dead for long.
