Seems to me if they'd gone backwards, they would've brought back everyone who'd become a Black Lantern instead of a select few. And we still don't know why the White Light chose them.
[HIDE]Still, it was a stroke of genius bringing Shiera back instead of Kendra.[/HIDE]
[HIDE]You kill and character assassinate Boomerang Jr. to bring back Boomerang. Tempest and his family, to pave the return of Aquaman. Female Hawk, killed to pave the return of the classic Hank Hall (who became Extant btw...who killed Dove). The more interesting Kendra and the spacecop Sheyera Thal, both killed and replaced with classic-style Sheira. Zoom was already brought back, with the previous death of Inertia and the loss of Zoom's powers, directly prior to his return. Gehenna killed to bring Ronnie Raymond back, with the possibly of Jason Rusch exiting the scene completely. (as it was classic Ronnie Firestorm, not Jason's updated look.) [/HIDE]
This is just a continuation in the DC Universe moving backwards when it comes to characters instead of forwards. Tis a shame.
Brightest Day may be very well and good (perhaps Firestorm will mirror his Brave and The Bold incarnation) I'm mildly disappointed. You can bring back older characters without killing or ruining their newer counterparts.
So again, liked the crossover, but I dislike the direction of the overall line. On the bright side, once they kill Wally's kids, they're out of Titan's children. The one-two punch of Tempest's son and Lian (Arsenal's daughter) puts a nail in that.
