back when I was little, I always thought every Hero shows I got to see is from Saban. It came as surprise to me when DiC is the actual distributor (when I stumble upon its wiki).

Well, in "theory" they're still adaptations because they're using an interpretation of the Ultraman Type C suit and most of the original kaiju monsters from what I can tell

I'm pretty sure only Ultimate Hero (Powered) used the old monsters, while Towards the Future (Great) used completely new ones. Hell, Great even had quite a few energy weapons not based on the original Ultraman. He used energy swords before Agul did.

I like how the Japanese community praise this show as A masterpiece went waaay ahead of its time (時代を先取りしすぎた名作」) since windows 95 and other 32-bit operating systems were barely in development by the time. It would have done better if it came out on the 21st century.

Now that I think about it, Tsuburaya did the whole "Digital World" concept before Digimon did, huh?

Well two to three years after, depending on if you consider it be 1995 or 1996.

The only thing different on Gridman is that it wasn't a "world" so to speak like Digimon's was, which could be likened to Tron merged with Dungeons and Dragons with partner creatures. That is, the team in Gridman/SSSS never really were in their digital world other than the kid that became Servo in the American version whereas Digimon, they were in both worlds on and off.

Notably, Zero Two does that concept while Tamers is the reverse Adventure, starting in the real world and ends into the Digital World for the last half until coming back tragically.

There's so many influences from the kaiju eiga in Pokemon its insane. The first two generations of water starters are based off of Gamera and Godzilla , the legendaries seem to be like kaiju in the 50s Toho tradition and maybe more.

I mean by the virtual pets, which came in 1996 and developed the year prior. Pokemon and Digimon pretty much began at the same time game wise while their anime series started similarly. Though Adventure had some basis via the V-Tamer manga and Pokemon in Adventures, both went in different directions relative to their series although Digimon was closer to characters and concepts than the original Pokemon anime.

Um, Pokemon started from a video game series that Satoshi Tajiri made; the manga came later.
