Stargate SG-1 Season 10

I realize that no show can go on indefinitely and I believe it is better to end on a high note then to drag on a show when quality suffers.

HOWEVER, this is a very bad time to end this series:
- there's still lots to explore, like the Ori
- figure merchandizing has just started
- Stargate Worlds (THE Stargate MMORPG) is still 2 years away. Pulling the plug on the show might put this game's development in danger. I have really been looking forward to it and now it might also get cancelled because of dwindling intrest from casual fans...

There stuck in a hard place, because should they wrap up The Ori battles quickly due to this advance warning, and get renewed, what's left for the show to cover?

Baal and the Trust, for one. The ongoing turmoil with the Jaffa forming a government, for another. There are several ways that the story could go.

I hope that the series moves to another channel. Hopefully someplace like TNT or Spike. But if they move the series into the movie format (a la Star Trek) that wouldn't be too bad, and Rick could come back as a main character since he won't be spending ALL his time away from his daughter.

I am enthused by Cooper's words. They encourage me.

We still need to see the Furlings (the real ones - not that giant koalas are bad though). And there's still little loose threads from ealier seasons that we haven't seen a real completion to (not entirely sure though since I've not seen season 9 or 10 minus ep 200). What ever happend to those giant ghost-like aliens that Daniel's grandfather ended up living with? I can't really think of others but the Nox do also come to mind.

I agree that a series of movies being a good way to wrap of the current storyline. Although this will affect the sequels to the original movie, which I still want to see done (but not before SG1). Still hope that the proposed second spin-off does happen.

So I just finished up catching up with Season 9 and what's been aired of 10 and I'm absolutely loving it. I find the Ori storyline kinda scary, and especailly after the season 9 finale there's definitely greater jeopardy facing our heroes than before. I mean everyone in the Milky Way is being threatened, and the crap that's going on with the Jaffa ain't helping. Plus the various other things going on, like Baal's clones and such. Again, what a bad time to cancel the show. :disappoin But then again this storyline probably should have been used to kick off another spin-off, of coarse we wouldn't have have Daniel, Sam, and Teal'c around then. It's bad enough not having O'Neill there.

Anyway, I do love the new cast. Sure Mitchell ain't no O'Neill, but I like him and he does a great job as leader of SG-1. Sucks for Carter though, she should really be in charge. Vala's a great character, more there for comic relief though. I like Landry, though I'd still prefer have Hammond around. However I like the dynamic with him and Dr. Lam, another good character. Didn't exept the child/parent relationship at first.

I'm going to have to try my damnedest to watch the rest of Season 10 live. Not sure how it'll help...does our satelite provider track what we watch at my house? I wouldn't doubt it but it probably isn't for ratings...Anyway can't wait to get season 9 on dvd. I plan to grab it along with season 8 which I'm still missing.

I'm actually a bit relieved to hear SG-1 being cancelled because ever since Atlantis went on the air, I've been getting a bad feeling of the show being decimated like Star Trek was. The overabundance of TNG, DS9, Voyager & Enterprise either airing new shows or going into syndication throughout the airwaves I think really weighed it down and helped bring about the low ratings (among other things.)

Now for them to finish the 10th season would be best for all, of course. The wierd thing is the fact of so many sci-fi actors and actresses showing up on the series sort of made me think of some wierd pseudo-incest feeling. Shanks marrying Lexa Doig and bringing her in along with Browder, Black & Baccarin really makes things seem wierd. As much as I try, I do have wierd thoughts of seeing the actors and seeing Doig as Rommie instead of Dr. Lam among others.

I just hope that the franchise doesn't go the way of Star Trek and oversaturate the market.

If the show continues to be well-written and the episodes continue to be exciting (both of which statements are true, in my opinion), then there is no risk of "oversaturation."

I like Atlantis less than SG1 but still think it's pretty cool. I like SG1 with Anderson better than SG1 without Anderson but it's still pretty much my favorite show right now.

Depends on who you have. I believe DirecTV does keep track of what you watch and/or Autotune to (with respect to taping shows and stuff), and I think it goes towards ratings but I'm not positive.

And if you do find good deals for 8 and 9 let me know, I'm looking to pick them up one of these days. :anime:

I have to say I like Atlantis more, well in a sense that if I compare Atlantis season 1 vs SG-1 season 1, Atlantis is much more entertaining. But that could be due to the carry over of the SG-1 universe. To me SG1 didn't really hit its stride til about the 3rd season.

I think so too, but I guess the fact that Atlantis could take off from an already established universe helped speed up the process. SG1 needed to introduce a lot of things, hence the markedly slower pace to get up to speed.

That doesn't mean the eps in season 1 or 2 were any less entertaining.

Plus, you're never gonna here anyone say "THAT'S BULLSHIT!" on Atlantis. :laugh:
