Star Wars the TV Series

It's coming to TV and in an incredibly shitty call... it'll take place between the two trilogies.

Just saw this at TVguide.com:

George Lucas confirmed over the weekend that he's developing two Star Wars projects for the small screen, per Variety. The first is a 3-D animated half-hour show that expands on the Cartoon Network's Clone Wars miniseries, and the other is a live-action series that focuses on several of the franchise's supporting characters. Both shows will be set in the years between the end of Revenge of the Sith and the beginning of Star Wars. Also known as Princess Leia's training-bra years. I say it'd make it all the better. Knights of the Old Republic seems to be the best recieved Star Wars anything since the Timothy Zahn books. And if they do it well, then there'd be no worry about getting to know new characters in a new era, so long as the storyteller does a good job of telling the story.

I mean, anyone who knows the Skywalkers, Obi-Wan, or Yoda more than likely has already maxed out on them from the sheer number of places you can see them saving the galaxy... again.

I love those guys to death, but I am so sick and tired of them! Let someone else take the stage a la Knights of the Old Republic and let's explore new vast legends that can be found on the galaxy sized stage that is the Star Wars Universe.

Actually, what I'd like to see is them do different sagas. I know people are going to flip out at this, but Power Rangers is one of TV's longest running series of all time and is the most watch children's show of all time. Because they don't retread the hell out of the same setttings and characters. Each year you get a knew story, characters, and sagas and a kickass finale.

What I'd like to see is about.... 30 to 40 something episode long series. And they build to a free for all climax and once it's over, start another series. Like have the first series be about Jedi...the next.. bounty hunters... the next... smugglers... the next Jedi and smugglers... and the list of things you could do while keeping the show fresh is pretty much utterly endless.

I want to see and experience an entire Star Wars Universe while I watch a TV Series based off it. Not just hang out with the same gaht damned characters again. I come to the franchise for all the wild possiblitities of getting your own ship, finding out you've potential to be a Jedi or blasting your way out of a Hutt Palace. I don't want to come to it just to watch Boba Fett, who we ALREADY know the fate of in Return of the Jedi.

We know everybody's fate and the fate of the galaxy in the continuity we already know.

Give us something where we know the fate of no one.

The new movies adhere with the Movie Continuity that I'm sick of. Now, if it was it's complete and utter own new thing I wouldn't complain so much, but the Prequels are hampered by the fact that no matter how epic it gets, we already know the ending and on top of that they're fucking with that which we already know and love.

Dick around in the same tired as hell Trilogy Era (either of them) and you end up hampering yourself more by, "Well, what year is it, ST time? Alright is Han free to stop over for a guest appearance or is he suppose to be off somewhere else now?"

Not to mention, no one else will do except Harrison Ford and he's got as much desire to do Star Wars again as God wants to work at McDonalds for a week.

There are other stories and worlds to be wove in the Star Wars Universe which have **** and damn to do with Luke, Lando, their relatives or their fucking waiter even. I've had enough with those guys and I wanna see somebody else pick up a lightsaber and follow the adventures of another cool spaceship.

After a billion games, a billion books, a billion comic books, and now six movies... enough's enough already.

Star Trek is jacked because of bad ideas. They did right to move far and away from the first Enterprise with Star Trek: the Next Generation and it was, I think ST's greatest incarnation. Then they did another series, Deep Space Nine, which had a tough start being stuck in one spot, but they learned how to wield the universe and by fans it's also considered one of the greatest because of all the new ships, enemies, places, heroes and villians it created.

Voyager... just too weak an idea.

Enterprise... fucking prequel again!

There are good ideas to be had, like Star Trek: Special Forces, but yeah... new cast, new heroes, new villians and new quests are always the best route to go. Like I said, I think Power Rangers is the longest running consistant television show of all time now, and it's because it's willing to dump finished stories and begin new, creative and completely different ones within the same universe and maintaining traditions.

While not everyone knows who Qel-Droma is or what happened after the fall of the Emporer, pretty much all the world's pop culture has been saturated for 28 years. I'm sure people are aware of the existence of Dart Vader, Luke, and the Falcon.

Much like everyone knew Kirk, Spock and Checkov inside and out. But instead of going to their further careers or what their careers were like when they were young, they went with the highly successful far into the future stories of TNG. I've heard by most Trekkies that DS9 was suppose to be the **** too, but I stopped watching before "it got really good!"

If you want a fresh burst for the franchise, kick it into a new era of new legends. There you can see growth.

Seen it done in comic books and in the Knights of the Old Republic game. KOTOR itself was highly successful and critically acclaimed. Part of it was that you didn't need to know any Star Wars lore to know what was going on, unlike this damned TV Series.

You *could* just be a fucker off the street and totally get into it, because it built its own new immersive lore, which is part of the fun we had when getting into the Star Wars universe in the first place.

Prequels are uninspired now. It was cool when we waited 20 years to see the origin of Darth, but now... we all know what's going to happen. It stunts growth and inspiration.

I'll watch it, I hope it's good, but it could be MUCH better if we were thrown into the far future where we hook up with a new band of charismatic heroes who quest the galaxy in an effor to stop the evil Dark Talon and his Sith Horde or something. But before they can start Orin Del-Shard need quest for the Lost Saber of Skywalker so that he may start his own path to become a Jedi or some ****.

How about we go play in the New Jedi Order era of things? Beyond the nifty stuff that was in the books, there's 150 billion sidestories that could be told that still fit into the war with the Vong.

Or, heck, go the other direction and tell us more about the Sith War or the conflict against the Mandalorians. I'd even go for a tv series about Kyle Katarn, as long as it skirts 98% of the done-to-death established characters.

I'm right there with ya man!
That's why I think Clone Wars did so freakin well! Not only were they characters that we really haven't known for a huge amount of time (and been used to death), but it was also during the Golden Age of the Jedi, so we were seeing some kickass Jedi action...and not some kid learing what he thinks it is to be a Jedi.

I'd like it to be in the far flung future where the stuff we grew up on is now considered The Great War or The Time of Vader, and we have new heroes that search the ruins of Cloud City and face a new dark threat of Darth Rage and his Sith Legions.

They could find Skywalker's lightsaber of legend or even the Falcon... I just want a new world to explore and discover.

Not to be jammed in the middle of a story that's been told retold, and side-told for three decades now.

I'm fucking sick of Star Wars in general. Lucas is just a lazy fatass corporate bastard that is still leeching money from the franchise. Let it die!

Star Wars should die as much as Power Rangers, Sentai, or Kamen Rider should die.

It's a rich universe and there's so much that could be done. I don't see why we're wasting it on beating the dead horse of all the stories we've already been through a billion times.

I want Star Wars, but I want new Star Wars.

There's a difference though. Star Wars is basically putting a monopoly on the sci-fi venue, which is bullshit. There's much better sci-fi out there but it's all being overshadowed by Star Wars Episode 9,000,000,000,000,001: Attack of the Clones Again.

Star Wars would be a Hundred times Better If Lucas left it alone. (AKA Clone Wars)

In the Interveiw He stated "I never considered there to be anything past Ep. 6" AKA Thats why I decided to ignore all continuity I didn't create and make The crap films, and destroy the old one.

On his death bed He's gonna admit that he hates Star Wars and thats why he ruined all 6 films.
