Title: Star Beast Chronicles Spirit Knights

Summary: Four friends are given the power to defend humanity from the mysterious Onryo as the Spirit Knights.
Author's Note: This is my original Tokusatsu story. I hope everybody who reads this, enjoys it. It's loosely based off of Madan Senki Ryukendo.
Ancient Japanese tales speak of ghosts coming back for revenge. Called Onryo, they seek vengeance on those who wronged them. This is one such tale of the Onryo and the Spirit Knights that defeated them.
Prologue
Sakura Miharu, whose name means 'cherry blossoms in the beautiful clear sky', was being carried to a well with darkness spewing out of it. She wore a white kimono and her long dark brown hair was let out. She was laid on a alter, in front of the well. The priest walked in and blessed her. Once she was blessed, the priest personally took a dagger and stabbed her in the heart till she was dead. Then he lifted her body and threw her into the well. It was a ritual to appease the demon Yami the Lord of Darkness. However it wasn't the end of Sakura. Though she was dead, her spirit wanted revenge. She had never asked to be a sacrifice for the Lord of Darkness. She will rise to seek her revenge. There will be no doubt about that.
“We've done the sacrifice again.” the priest said. “Hopefully Yami is appeased.”
Soon there was a earthquake. The priest and monks looked over at the well. More darkness was spewing out of it. Then the ghost of Sakura came out of it. She held a bloodied katana in her hands.
“No! It didn't work!” the priest shouted. “What did we do wrong!?”
Sakura just laughed and charged at the priest, her katana raised above her head.
Present Day on Star Island
Star Island, a island off the coast of New York. This island is a medium island in the shape of a star and is home to 23,000 citizens from all over the world. Because of this, it is being considered as the new location of United Nations' headquarters. The other location being considered is Babylon in Iraq.
Suoh Mizu, a Japanese-American male, hung out with his friends. They are Megan Blaze, Tauri Ryder and William "Will" Leonard.
Suoh has dark brown hair dyed silver. He wears a black t-shirt with a kanji symbol in white on the front with blue jeans and white and blue sneakers. His parents were born in Japan but he was born in the United States.
Megan has auburn hair that goes a couple of inches past her shoulders. She is wearing a pink speghetti strap tank top and blue jeans with pink and white sneakers. She was from England but moved to the United States when she was a little girl. She has been friends with the three guys all her life. Her sister stayed in England and joined the military there. Her sister is in combat missions over in Iraq as a field medic.
Will, as he likes to be called, is a African-American. His hair is done in cornrows and he is wearing a black t-shirt with khaki pants and leather boots.
Tauri is Native American of the Hopi tribe. His medium dark brown hair is tied into a pony tail and he wears a white t-shirt with a bald eagle on the front and the American flag boardering. His brother is in the United States Marine Corps and is serving in Iraq.
All four high school students are sitting on Suoh's porch, talking about their upcoming first semester of college.
"Well in about week we'll be in college." Suoh said. "I wonder if we'll be togther our entire lives."
"We won't." Tauri said. "But we will be friends forever. We'll be friends until the day we die and our stars die as well."
"You're right Tauri." Will said. "Except for the stars part. Let's make the most of our college years."
"We still will be working together." Megan said with her English accent. "Remember tomorrow is the day we start out new jobs with the Star Island Police Department."

Star Island police arrived at the Star Island Museum of Natural History. Something happened when the scientists here were studying something that was found in a abandoned feudal Japan village.
"What happened?" asked the chief of police Kenneth Stark.
"Well they were studying a scroll from our reports." said Lieutenant Carl Leonard, Will's father. "But it must have brought something from the dead. Because they kept claiming they saw monsters and zombies."
Ken couldn't help but smile and laugh to himself. Of course it was pretty laughable, but what if they were telling the truth. "Well did you send a team inside?"
"Yeah couple of minutes ago." Carl said. "They have yet to check in."
Suddenly the team that was sent in came back out. A couple were wounded and some were accounted for. Ken knew something was wrong. He also quit smiling and knew something truely terrible was unleashed by the scientists studying the scroll. "What happened?"
"They were right." said the team leader. "There were monsters and zombies inside. Especially a ghostly like girl in white and a black demonic being in black armor. We were nearly wiped out in there."
"Tell me SWAT can handle this." Ken told Carl.
"I won't lie to you chief." Carl said. "But I think SWAT will be royally screwed if they go in there."
"That means Plan B then." Ken scratched his head. "We have to depend on him now."
"You mean Grand Master Mizu? Suoh's grandfather?"
"He's our only hope and he has those devices."
Carl looked at his superior. "Do we have four people who are willing to accept something this dangerous?"
"Let's ask our new guys tomorrow."

Sakura walked around Yami's castle in the Hell Realm. Every evil spirit or demon under Yami's command lives in this realm. She walks back to the throne room to find her lord kneeling in front of a fire place, that has purple flames and the souls of his victims floating around.
"Someone has summoned us from this prison my Lord." she said once she kneeled in front of Yami.
"Finally, but we can't go to the Earth realm yet." Yami replied. "I need more souls for our demon king Orochi."
"Why don't you send a Onryo Lord to collect the souls for you, my Lord?"
"Excellent idea Sakura. I have just the Onryo Lord to send."

The four friends walked into the police station. Their first day in the evidence room.
"Well let's go guys." Suoh asked. "I hate to explain to our boss that we were late because we were nervous."

Once inside they joined other recruits or new people that were working for the police department. Ken walks out to greet them and introduce them to their new jobs. Of course he had to explain the situation from yesterday.
"Welcome to the Star Island Police Department." Ken said with a smile. "Before I give you your assignments. Let me first by saying that we have a special division here at the station. It is a division dedicated to investigating the paranormal. Now this division is run by a Mr. Kakashi Mizu. I would like four volunteers. So who's up for the job?"
Nobody raised theirs or stood up. They all thought Ken has lost his mind. In the end Suoh stood up.
"Kakashi Mizu is my grandfather and current Grand Master of the Ryu Clan. I'll be glad to work under him."
Then Megan, Tauri and Will stood up. Megan spoke for them. "If Suoh is going to work under his grandfather, then so are we. We're going to stick together for as long as we can."
"Well that settles it." Ken said. "Follow me and I'll take you to Kakashi."

The five entered a secret elevator that took them below the police station. Nearing the underground base of the Spirit Investigation Team, they saw other SIT agents training in a dojo. with Kakashi standing in front of the agents and teaching them martial arts.
"Here we go." Ken said as they got off the elevator.
They waited until the training session was over before going over to Kakashi.
"Ah grandson!" Kakashi said with a smile. "I knew you would volunteer if my name was mentioned. And it is nice to see your friends again too."
"Mr. Mizu, now is not the time for introductions." Ken said. "We need to get these guys their Geki Partners before those monsters from yesterday appear again."
"Of course right this way."
Kakashi led them to a room with four alters inside. On each alter was a small device that represented a animal. The four animals that were represented are the Japanese dragon, the phoenix, the lion and the eagle.
"These will be your Spirit Partners." Kakashi said. "Mystical devices used in the old days to fend off evil. With these devices you shall have great power as the protectors of Earth. You will defend the human race as Spirit Knights."
"Spirit Knights?" Will asked. "We get to be superheros? This is tight!"
"I knew you'd like it Will." Kakashi said. "These four were collected in different parts of the world. Each one is given to the rightful person. I want you all to close your eyes and reach out to your Spirit Partner."
The four did so and each soon received their Spirit Partner. Suoh received the Dragon Spirit, Megan the Phoenix Spirit, Will the Lion Spirit and Tauri the Eagle Spirit. They all opened their eyes and were amazed.
"This is so bloody amazing!" Megan exclaimed.
"I would hope so." said the Phoenix Spirit.
"They talk?"
"Of course we talk." Dragon Spirit said. "We're your partners. We'll be talking to you a lot."
"This is truely amazing." Suoh said.

A giant praying mantis appeared from the Hell Realm. It begins it's attack on Star Island's citizens. Killing anyone unfortunate enough to get out of it's way.
Meanwhile, back at the SIT base, alarms starting to go off. Meaning something was happening on the small island. Kakashi and Ken checked the monitors. They saw Mantis Onryo causing havoc in the city. The Onryo foot soldiers, known as Genma, had just joined in the chaos. These foot soldiers are skeleton like beings wearing black or purple samurai armor.
"You better get out there!" Kakashi said. "Looks the city is in big trouble!"
"We're on our way!" Suoh and his friends ran to the elevator.

The Mantis Onryo and it's army of Onryo were enjoying their reign of destruction and death. Until the four new SIT agents arrived on the scene.
"If you want to kill everyone on this island." Will said. "You'll have to get through us first."
"Ready guys?" Suoh asked. They readied their Spirit Partners and then shouted "SPIRITS ACTIVATE!"
Their partners turned into their weapons. Suoh has a double edged serrated blade sword with a dragon head to form the hilt, Will has a spiked mace club with a lion's head on it, Megan has a gun shaped like a phoenix and finally Tauri has a axe in the shape of a eagle's head.
"SPIRIT KEYS!" they all shout and keys appear in their right hands. They insert the keys into their weapons. Then shout their transformation call.
"Water Dragon henshin!" Suoh shouts.
"Fire Phoenix henshin!" Megan shouts.
"Wind Eagle henshin!" Tauri shouts.
"Earth Lion henshin!" Will shouts.
Then the animals they represent appears in the element that they represent. The dragon presents water, the phoenix represents fire, the lion represents earth and the eagle represents wind. The animal spirits combine with their respective partner and transform them into the Spirit Knights.
"Ryu Knight rising!" Ryu has blue and gold armor.
"Phoenix Knight rising!" Phoenix has red and gold armor.
"Eagle Knight rising!" Eagle has green and gold armor.
"Leo Knight rising!" Leo has orange and gold armor.
"DEFENDERS OF ALL HUMANITY! SPIRIT KNIGHTS!"
The Mantis Onryo roars to order it's Onryo to attack the Spirit Knights. The four knights rush into battle and start using their weapons to defeat the Onryo.
Leo knocks down five Onryo with his mace. Causing them to hit the ground and vanish.
"Alright! This is fun!" Leo exclaimed.
Phoenix does a couple of backflips before she starts striking or shooting at her group of Onryo.
"YES!"
Ryu and Eagle teamed up to defeat their groups. Ryu begins using his martial arts style to cut down his opponents. While Eagle uses his axe to cut down his opponents.
"Some fun we're having." Eagle said.
"I'll say."
They defeat their Genma and then confront Mantis Onryo, who roars in anger.
"You're next bug brain!" Ryu said. "We're going to send you back to Hell in pieces!"
"Use the Final Spirit Key." Dragon Spirit said.
"Right." Ryu summons the key. "Final Spirit Key!"
"Dragon Cross Slash!" Ryu inserts the key into his weapon and the blade becomes energized with blue energy. Ryu then slices Mantis in four directions verticallly, horizontally and both ways diagonally. Mantis splits into pieces and explodes on the ground.
Everyone who saw the fight cheered for the new superheroes and thanked them for coming to the rescue. Back at SIT headquarters, Ken and Kakashi watched the fight and were proud when the Mantis Onryo was destroyed.
"The Spirit Knights are back!" Kakashi announced.

The four gathered in the control room of SIT headquarters. Kakashi gave them all vests of their armor color, animal and the name of their alter ego; to wear as uniforms. Ken gave them all SIT badges with the police shield on them. To wear on chains around their necks.
"Congratulations you guys." Ken said. "You've earned it."
"Thank you Chief." Suoh said and the four were dismissed. As they walked to the elevator, Suoh turned to his friends.
"Well looks we will work together after all." he said and they walked away.
Next Episode: The Knights must face a new Onryo, while Kakashi begins a satellite search for other Spirit Partners. The Knights learn of the Omni Final Keys and a new weapon if the said keys are used at the same time.
Author's Comment: I really don't know about Native American religions. So I based Tauri's line about the stars from the anime Cowboy Bebop. Well I did say it is loosely based off of Madan Senki Ryukendo. I just like the whole key idea for transforming and calling on weapons and vehicles.
