FIRST LOOK: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Video Game
Check out the first trailer, EXCLUSIVE screenshots, and a host of details about the upcoming Spider-Man game

By Ryan Penagos

Spider-Man swings again! Well, maybe we should say Spider-MEN!

That's right, gamers, get ready to wipe the webbing off your consoles once again this fall with a brand new Spidey game featuring not one, not two, not three, but four versions of Spider-Man at your command! Slated for release in September 2010 and developed by Beenox, "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" gives players the chance to travel across four unique dimensions, harnessing the unique powers and abilities of each Spider-Man.

Here at Marvel we like to tease and tantalize, to show off just enough of the magic without giving away all our secrets. For this first look at "Shattered Dimensions," we're unveiling two of the four dimensions: "Amazing Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man Noir"!

Each dimension wraps players in a stunning visual presentation and engrossing gameworld pulled directly from the comics--but it doesn't end there. Gameplay also changes from dimension to dimension with new combat styles and abilities unfolding as you progress. The "Amazing Spider-Man" experience delivers innovative web-centric battles and visuals in a world that pays tribute to the classic era of the Webhead. In contrast, "Spider-Man Noir" features a cunning and covert depiction of Spider-Man, who utilizes shadows to perform stealth takedowns in a 1930's-influenced, black-and-white cinematic environment.

"Each action-packed universe will have its own detailed art design and thrilling missions, challenging gamers to use new skill sets to defeat enemies as they unlock powerful new moves and progress through the game," said Rob Kostich, Head of Marketing for Activision Publishing, Inc.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Trailer 1

Awesome visual style? Check. A crazy-cool variety of gameplay options and experiences? You betcha. An original, epic and engrossing storyline to bring it all together? But of course!

Written by acclaimed Marvel Comics scribe--and hardcore gamer--Dan Slott (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, MIGHTY AVENGERS), the story takes players on a mission to capture the magical energy of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, which has been shattered and scattered across parallel universes. Gamers must battle fan-favorite villains such as Kraven the Hunter and an all-new-created-just-for-the-game "Noir" version of Hammerhead, in a quest to restore the fabric of reality.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Alternate Costumes Revealed
Get ready to slip into some new threads, Spider-fans

By Kenny Mahoney

Get ready to slip into some new threads, Spider-fans!

We know you're excited about the upcoming release of the "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" video game, but we're giving you even more reasons to be hyped about the game's September 7 release by featuring the alternate costumes you'll unlock in the game!

Below you'll find the latest info about Spidey's alternate in-game costumes, as well as their origins, where you can use them, and where you can find them in the pages of your favorite Marvel comics!

Costume: Cosmic Spider-Man
Dimension: All Dimensions
Story: A mysterious energy source known as the Uni-Power travels the universe in search of those most in need of its ultimate power--something Spider-Man knows all too well, having been chosen as a "Captain Universe" in the past. With the fate of reality itself in the balance, this persona has split itself through four dimensions, bonding with the Spider-Man of each. While this division has lessened its cosmic strength, the Uni-Power still offers a much welcome power boost to each hero.
First Appearance: MICRONAUTS #8 (1979)
*Please note that the Cosmic Spider-Man costumes are GameStop pre-order exclusives.*

Costume: Scarlet Spider
Dimension: Amazing
Story: For a time, there were two Amazing Spider-Men. The second, a clone of Peter Parker who named himself Ben Reilly (taking the first name of "his" uncle and the surname of Aunt May), assumed the guise of the Scarlet Spider, fighting alongside his "brother" until Peter decided to take a break from super heroics. Soon after, Ben assumed the role of Spider-Man himself, until his death at the hands of the Green Goblin.
First Appearance: WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #118 (1994)

Costume: Negative Zone Suit
Dimension: Noir
Story: When the Amazing Spider-Man attempted to free some innocent bystanders from a vortex leading to the Negative Zone, a hero named S.H.O.C. lent his Darkforce to Peter to help, altering his costume. And as far as Spider-Man Noir is concerned, its dark colors make for an excellent suit in which to sneak around.
First Apperance: SPIDER-MAN #90 (1998)

Costume: Mangaverse Spider-Man
Dimension: Ultimate
Story: In the Mangaverse dimension, a young Peter Parker boasts an expected assortment of spider powers, serving as a ninja in the Spider-Clan. After his sensei, Uncle Ben, was murdered by the evil Ronin Venom, Peter set out on a quest for vengeance. Though his dimension holds no Tablet pieces, it is every bit as threatened as all of the others, and he stands eager to assist should Ultimate Spider-Man need a breather.
First Appearance: SPIDER-MAN: LEGEND OF THE SPIDER-CLAN #1 (2002)

Costume: Iron Spider
Dimension: 2099
Story: Tony Stark created this technologically advanced costume for Peter Parker shortly before the Heroic Age's Civil War, but Peter parted with it after changing sides in the conflict. Somewhere along the way, Miguel O'Hara came across an Iron Spider costume of his own, possibly a relic once worn by a team known as the Scarlet Spiders that was trained by Taskmaster as part of the post-Civil War Initiative.
First Apperance: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #529 (2006)

Costume: Spider-Armor
Dimension: 2099
Story: Peter Parker wore the Spider-Armor only once during his long stint as the Amazing Spider-Man, but its design has stood the test of time and has only grown more popular over the years. The pseudo-metallic compound Peter created to defend himself against the high-caliber firearms of the New Enforcers is cheap and commonly available in 2099, making authentic reproductions of Spider-Armor a Halloween staple. Miguel O'Hara dug this one out of his closet.
First Apperance: WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #100 (1993)

While you'll unlock most of these alternate outfits by playing the game, you can get your hands on some of these suits sooner by pre-ordering "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" from different retailers such as Amazon, Kmart and Walmart! But remember, the Cosmic costumes are only available when you pre-order at GameStop.

Be sure to check out the gallery below for even more images of these awesome new costumes, and stay tuned to Marvel.com for the latest on "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" and all your favorite Marvel games!

And now the best part: pics of the alternate costumes! So here they are:-

Amazing Spider-Man as Captain Universe
Noir Spider-Man as Captain Universe
2099 Spider-Man as Captain Universe
Ultimate Spider-Man in Venom Suit as Captain Universe
Amazing Scarlet Spider
Negative Zone Amazing Spider-Man
Mangaverse Spider-Man
Amazing Iron Spider
Amazing Spider-Armor

And there you have it for the latest updates. Based on the first few comments here, I know that Keith's probably gonna be really looking forward to Mangaverse Spider-Man.

Hmmm.... so we have "Normal" Spider-Man and "Old-Tyme" Spider-Man.

By the Rules Of Alternate Selves Encounters that means the other two need to be a "High Tech/Sci-Fi" Spider-Man (maybe 2099 or some variation of the Silver Spider) and a "Very Very Different" Spider-Man (possibly Mangaverse, Japanese Spider-Man or even possibly Spider-Girl).

I'd laugh my ass off if they throw in Toku-Spiderman!

This does look interesting though, might pick it up.

Regarding "Old-Tyme" Spider-Man, it's actually Noir. It's just an alternate version of Spider-Man in the Noir era. It doesn't count as Old-Tyme, just like as if there's Pirate Spider-Man or Caveman Spider-Man or whatnot. And I have a feeling one of the next 2 to be revealed would be Spider-Man 2099.

I REALLY hope they hit up Legend of the Spider Clan.

SAME HERE! :thumbs::buttrock::castlerock::D:)

I would love it if they threw in Toku Spiderman, complete with giant battle's with Leopardon.

I have my doubts. Chances are unlikely that they'll do Toku Spider-Man. Besides, this game's more about Spider-Man fighting normal-sized villains and none of giant robot battles. The closest we'll get to a "Japanese" Spider-Man, IF they DO bring one, is Legend of the Spider Clan.

I would like to point out that while this is indeed awesome news, let's brainstorm for a second. Now, since they're doing 4 worlds featuring the web-head, I'd say the chances are for 2099 are pretty decent if not great. The other unrevealed, which I'm kind of shocked no one has brought up, I get the feeling will be Zombie Spidey. Keep in mind that Activision has done games like this where the hero has to feed in order to survive, or in this case, keep the hunger at bay. Further evidence to this theory is that Marvel beats the Zombie-verse of theirs to death with an iron pole. Again, just a theory.
