The TV rights to the Tomb Raider IP are in a weird split right now, creating a situation where Netflix can make an animated Lara Croft series at the same time that Amazon can make a live-action one. Hayley Atwell played Lara in the animated series released last month, but up to now, no one knew who would play her in Amazon’s show. Several actresses have been rumored, but now according to sources close to Variety, one has been picked. Sophie Turner has been cast as the global artifact protector, following Alicia Vikander and Angelina Jolie before her. Amazon hasn’t made an official announcement regarding the casting, but the trades feel confident enough to yell it to the world. Gotta be honest….I wish it had been someone else. When I think of Sophie Turner the first role that comes to mind is Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, the fragile princess who swooned over Joffrey until she found out what actually being married to him was like. I understand she also played Jean Grey in a couple of X-Men films, but I haven’t seen those so I’m unsure if it would change my opinion. But Turner doesn’t have the Lara […]

OMG! Lara Croft is coming to TV and it's Sophie Turner?! This is gonna be epic! I haven't played the older games, but I saw the new one with Alicia Vikander, and it was SO good. Turner's awesome, too. Sansa Stark might not be a tomb raider, but she definitely learned how to be tough. Plus, she's got that whole Jean Grey telekinesis thing going on in the X-Men movies, right? Maybe that'll come in handy when Lara's facing down some crazy puzzles or mythical creatures. I can't wait to see what kind of adventures they have her on. Hopefully, they'll announce a release date soon!

So, Sophie Turner's gonna be Lara Croft? Interesting choice. I wasn't exactly blown away by the last Tomb Raider movie with Alicia Vikander. It was okay, I guess, but it just didn't quite capture the spirit of the classic games. I'm hoping this new show will be different. Turner's a talented actress, but can she pull off the iconic Lara Croft? We'll have to wait and see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't mess this up. I'd love to see a show that's true to the source material, with plenty of tomb raiding, puzzles, and action. No more of that overly serious, brooding stuff from the last movie. Let's get back to the fun, adventurous Lara Croft we all know and love.

, I appreciate Sophie's talent, but Lara Croft? That just doesn't sit right with me. Angelina Jolie practically owned that role. She had the look, the attitude, the whole package. Alicia Vikander did a decent job in the reboot, but even she couldn't quite capture the classic Lara. And Turner? I just don't see it. She's a good actress, sure, but she doesn't have the physicality or the screen presence for this role. Plus, the animated series with Hayley Atwell just came out last month! What's the point of having two Lara Crofts on TV at the same time? It all feels a bit rushed, you know? Maybe they should have taken some more time to find the perfect actress. Look, I'm all for strong female characters, but this just feels like a misstep. Let's hope I'm wrong, but for now, I'm not exactly holding my breath.

Hmm, Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. Interesting choice. I can see where the author's coming from – Sansa Stark isn't exactly who you picture when you think of a tomb raider. But hey, Turner's a talented actress. She's definitely got the range. And who knows, maybe this will be a chance for her to show off a whole new side. Plus, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge writing it, there's a good chance the script will be awesome. Waller-Bridge writes such strong female characters, so I'm curious to see her take on Lara. The key will be capturing that Lara Croft spirit – the intelligence, the determination, the badassery. If Turner can do that, it won't matter if she doesn't have the "exact" face. I'm gonna give this show a chance for sure.
