Anyone else heard of this game?

Turns out this was actually Hideo Kojima's second game where he was the director, right after Metal Gear. The original was released on the PC-8801 and MSX2 and has been subsequently released multiple times throughout the years, the version on the Sega CD is the only one that has been released outside of Japan though, possibly due to it's pretty "mature" content.

It's sort of a visual novel (with some shooting sequences), that combines the aforementioned "homaged/rip-offed" franchises, Blade Runner and the Terminator films, combined with Kojima's typical "unique" writing style and somehow makes it all work. Sadly, it never sold that well and you'd probably have a tough time finding a copy of the actual game disc (they go on eBay for around $100+).

If you're interested here's a Let's Play of the game (text and video versions).

Why yes, the game does have a ton of Metal Gear references, why do you ask?

I played this on a PSP a while back. Loved it! MGS4 even references back to this game with the little helper you get that is the same design as the little helper you have in Snatcher.

Fun game... really wish they'd release a legal version of this on some kinda handheld.

I really hope they release some kind of newer version of this game on one of one of the current gen consoles....c'mon Kojima! Put down that Metal Gear and get on it!:shakefist
