I'm almost through with Dairanger (I wasn't even planning on finishing it at this time, but I spent all of last week just flying through the show. Take that, Shinken and Decade >>). Akomaru and his mother's death scene sort of bothers me. For starters I'm not a big fan of death-by-cave-in, since it's not very dignified. But my real issue here is why would Akomaru walk right into a cave that's collapsing on himself? It's not as though he was searching for his mother at that moment. He just wanders right in and practically commits suicide. I don't understand it. What's with that?
I've only seen the RAWS, so I might be wrong about this.
But, I'm thinking that when Shadam was favored more by the Gorma Emperor, Akomaru was exiled from the Gorma Palace. No one gave a **** about Akomaru anymore. So because of that, he felt that there was no point of him living. So he walked into that cave-in to kill himself, but coincidentally, his mother was there too. So he decided to die with his mother, that way he wouldn't feel alone.
I just remembered another thing: Why, after Gara is healed by Kujaku, does she continue plotting with the rest of the Gorma as though nothing happened? Is it related to her being fake?
Heck, while we're at it, why is Kou absent from a lot of the 'important' scenes, such as Kaku's death? I would suspect shooting time would intefere with Hisashi Sakai's schooling, but there doesn't seem to be any in-story explanation.

I always thought, that Kujaku secretly realize that Gara was a fake. And the real Gara was waiting for her in heaven. So she let the fake Gara live, because she couldn't bring herself to kill the fake. That's when Kujaku let the real Gara dispose of the fake. That's all I got right now.
My guess, is that Kou wasn't really close to Kaku, so they left him out.
Now, that you mentioned it. In the finale, they didn't show what happened to Kou and Kameo 50 years later after the final battle. Did they?
There is a picture of Kou as an old man (A tad silly-looking, though all of them are really. Though I think the cast had fun with it) in Lin's apartment. No mention of Kameo that I caught.
