Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Faded.Memories

Im not straight but my boyfriend is
I'm scared. Seriously. I watched the first like...maybe 30 mins of the game in the walk through videos....fabulous.

I can't wait to play this. The iPhone addition is pretty cool, especially with the ghostly imaging and audio that you can capture with it.

And the psych tests that will change the game depending on what you answer...wow. Yeah. That's kinda scary.

Article and videos here.

New trailer for SH: Shattered Memories

Thoughts behind the cut.

So there's a woman with a red dress...who could that be? Harry's wife? And Dahlia...obvious changes there, and she kinda reminds me of a punked out, sexed up Heather from SH3.

It looks terrifying and I'm probably going to wet myself when I play it.

I thought it looks interesting I'll give it that much. It reminds me of old point and click adventures like Myst. The character changes look pretty neat. I always thought Harry looked like Matt Dillon but now he reminds me of Harold Ramis. I'm not impressed with those uninspired creature designs. What are they even supposed to represent? Well I'm sure there will be more creatures unveiled later rather than those sorry looking grunts.

I'm liking the general direction they are going with this game, focusing it on the fact your character is just a frail writer. He's not going to be able to shoot down some devil spawn right off the back. He's going to run and hide. And I do hope they create a good backstory for the new icy other world. So it doesn't end up like "Hurr hurr look at us we're so clever by making everything icy instead of burning".

I dunno how I feel about this game yet, I haven't liked any of the American Silent Hill games as well as the movie and thought all of them had serious problems. Maybe this one will be different.

I don't know how into Silent Hill you get or anything, but typically every monster has a symbolic meaning. So far that's the only monster we've seen though...sooo...?

I kinda don't like the snow/ice world in comparison to the nightmare world though. :(

We'll see as more info on the game is revealed I guess, but right now I do not see what these blobs of pink and beige represent for this Harry's character or for Silent Hill.

That was one of my major issues with the American Silent Hill games, especially Homecoming. Monsters that don't mean jackshit and are just there to "look scary."

[Bit of a Necro-post]

So the Wii version has been released to mixed reviews thus far (though IGN and Gametrailers seemed to like it). It does look interesting though (it's kind of like the Star Trek 2009 film, only it's not to reboot the franchise).

I've only seen bits and pieces of it (and have never actually played a Silent Hill game in my life, though I have a basic knowledge of the stories) and the ending is certainly an interesting twist on the original.

Here's the UFO ending, if you want:

[WARNING- ENDING SPOILERS WITHIN! (You gain access to it after you've beaten it through once) It does have some nice references and cameos of other Silent Hill games too.]

Also here is a good LP I've been following:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISS0MVUTotw"]Shattered Memories LP-Intro[/ame]
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wPyu1GfLC8"]Episode 1-Blind Run[/ame]

You can find the rest of the LP here: http://www.youtube.com/user/nertom

And if you're wondering the enemies, "Raw Shocks" (their main goal is to essentially suck the heat right out of you), as their name applies ("Raw Shocks" aka "Rorschach's") are essentially rorschach tests. They start off as blank slates, then change as Harry progresses through the game/psych tests are answered, becoming more horrific or changing to fit your "psyche."
