Showdown: PSN vs. XBOX LIVE

That reminds me, I need to create another game tag since I got a free trial that came with my GTA4. :buttrock:

PSN... Pretty much the same as Live by the end of this week, but free and with rewards for trophies.

Heh you keep telling yourself that, and maybe one day it will be true. As it stands now PSN is slow, breaks a lot, doesn't have a good interface, and trophies are a joke.

Trophies are exactly the same and from what I have read, there will be a bit more to it. And I dont see anything wrong with PSN, especially after the next Firmware update comes up with the XMB interface. The only thing that PSN lacks is a strong community which no doubt XBL has. But, it is growing day by day and Im sure it will get just as strong soon.

All this talk about, "oh, all we are hearing is 'the future, the future'", I mean, what else is there to look forward to? Sony screwed up with PSN in the beginning but its learning the ropes quick. And it is showing more dedication with is frequent updates. Sony is trying to make things right, and with no charge to us. There is absolutely nothing for us to complain about and a lot to be happy for.

Yup. Removing PS1 and 2 playback was something to be happy about, keeping the price high but only having the 40gig model was something to be happy about, and now doing nothing more than adding watered down features to their system that the 360 has had since day 1 is something to be happy about.

As someone who owns all three systems, I can give an honest, unbiased opinion by saying I HATE THEM ALL.

It seems that the dickheads that inhabit each system have a time schedule of whenever I'm online because they like to flock with whatever match I'm in.

But don't worry. The Wii's online sucks more than any of the others could ever could.

I have the 60GB that is backwards compatible so I dont have that issue. And honestly, though Im broke as hell, I still think that it was $500 well spent. I mean, the 360 is about $350 last time I checked. And XBL is $50 bucks a year. In about another year, you would have paid just as much as I did. And you can't really go around saying that PSN is copying XBL when XBL is copying the Wii network of all things with the little Mii avatar thingies.

Okay, this is obviously gonna turn into a fanboy brawl. I guess we can just agree that we are each satisfied with the systems that we bought. the people with the 360s will choose XBL as the best online service will the PS3 owners will choose PSN. The only ones who can probably make an unbiased opinion are those are lucky enough to have both. So, maybe we should hear more from people like Henshiner.

Oh I had a ps3. I took it back a few weeks later. Worst purchase in a while. I expected PS1/PS2 quality. I got a cheap bluray machine, and a complete lack of games.

I've got both systems (all 3 if you count the Wii, but Wii online network... :rolleyes2: ).

There's no question Live is better integrated and more fully featured than PSN, but the new PSN update really does close the gap. IMO, the two key things it's missing in comparison are cross-game invites and universal voice chat. Both, of course, coming in the "future". I feel PSN being free really makes up for the remaining shortcomings though. But I'm probably not the best person to argue this. I don't play online that much, in fact I play my 360 so little I stopped paying for Live a few months ago. Anything I do plan to play online that's cross-platform I'll buy on the PS3 since it's free and I don't feel like I'm wasting money if I'm not using the online features. Sure, $50/year isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but I'd rather put that $50 towards a new game than an online service.
