I mostly wear my
Feiyues (Chinese all-purpose sneaker popular for being worn by monks at Shaolin temple); they're perfect for all types of wear since they're minimalist, only come in basic colors, and have a vintage appeal to them. I love them, I wear them everywhere; on the street, in more formal situations, I even work out in 'em. In terms of martial arts/fitness/activity/shitkicking footwear they're probably the best I've ever seen. The upper is soft, durable canvas, nothing fancy, and the soles are thick, soft, unfinished rubber that has a lot of give to it and thus is very lightweight and extremely flexible (how many shoes do you have that you can fold in half... both ways?), with incredible traction. I always wear them for martial arts practice, weightlifting, and parkour, but I've done everything from rock climbing and caving to sprinting and acrobatics in them and they're always comfortable, snug, and stay out of the way. Oh yeah, and you can get them for like $15. Good stuff. Get a pair.
