"Shocker Gundan, Banzai!"
For those in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, today KTVU Channel 2 (our Fox affiliate) shot an interview with myself, Doktor Goulfinger, former Creature Features' host John Stanley and former Creature Features' staffer Bill Longen at the Castro Theatre were we are staging SHOCK IT TO ME! REVENGE OF CREATURE FEATURES, a three-day, twelve-movie Classic Horror Film Fest next weekend (28, 29 & 30). The segment will air on the highly rated and Emmy Award-winning 10'o Clock News tonight or Monday at the earliest – or perhaps mid-week next. Keep your VCRs programmed!
Meanwhile, a writer for the Wall Street Journal, researching a story on Horror Film Festivals, came across our website and was so impressed that he is going to build the article around SHOCK IT TO ME! (or so I was told). The article will be appearing in next Friday's WALL STREET JOURNAL.
Also, several major newspapers and weeklys are conducting interviews with our guest of honor, actor Russ Tamblyn, who is hosting our double-feature of CURSE OF THE DEMON (uncut UK version) and THE HAUNTING on Sunday night (Oct. 30). These should be appearing this coming week before the show. In addition, the film critic at KRON-4, is going to give us a pre-show plug and are going to conduct an interview with Mr. Tamblyn. Shout out to Bob J. who gave the Castro Theater Mr. T's contact information, Bill Longen of the Castro Theatre whose idea it was to book Mr. Tamblyn and THE HAUNTING in the first place (I wanted to screen Bava’s BLACK SABBATH, glad he sold me on it, I’ll tell you that!) and the Castro Theatre for sponsoring Mr. Tamblyn’s appearance. Salute!
For more information on SHOCK IT TO ME!, including the line-up of films -- which include live presentations before curtains – horrifying hosts and ghoulish guests, creepy costume contest and grotesque burlesque -- please check out http://www.shockit2me.com
Hope to see some of you there! We’ll scare the YELL out of you!
